Andrige's Tree of Life wallpaper (and others)
Just had to share this amazing "Tree of Life" wallpaper with you all, as seen on Resto4Life. It was commissioned by them, and done by Andrige, an artist who's created quite a few terrific WoW-related images. But man this is a great piece of work from start to finish, with a little Night Elf treeform backed up by the big Ancients in the background, all covered with that great purple Darnassian glow.
Very cool stuff, and very apt to grace the desktop of any Resto druids out there (or the people who appreciate them -- raises hand). My only complaint is that it's all druid centric -- where are my epic Shaman wallpapers?

Best. Wallpaper. Ever.
As a resto druid, I'm feeling a lot of love for this one. Nice.

I'm sorry but thats not painted, not even close.
Good picture editiing ofc, but not a "Artwork" so to speak...

To the previous commentor:
Since when does something have to be "painted" to be art? What about sculpture, woodworking, screen printing, engraving, etc? And not to forget, new media. Digital art is art, and this is a beautiful sample.

Sydera is right.
Regardless Skuling, thanks for the skin links. Gorgeous!

very nice. What would be cool skill if tree form had an option to stand still they would take 50% damage.

I can see how this would be classified in the regions of photo manipulations (what skulling probably meant) While it's a commendable job and you could classify it as art, I'm more inclined to say "hey that's some nice photoshopping!"
But! I just noticed that Andrige has done some awesome work on reskinning the traditional skins, so I guess you could say he's an excellent texture-iser too ;)

feel wise it looks more like the tree of death. but nice work anyway.

nice but yeah, as a resto druid, i don't think of myself as that dark and angry. then again, i am not playing a nelf either.
also, Skuling, get a clue. you have no idea what you are talking about. :)

Damn, it would be really nice to have a resto druid wallpaper, but I'll be damned if I turn my tree form into a 14 year old suburban goth.
Andrige Mar 21st 2008 10:13AM
Haha, yeah sure whatever you say bounces off me.
It's darker but I think it looks nice, some people agree, some disagree. Myself I agree they are more dark than what's fitting, but then again I'm not getting paid, what you see when you see my skin is not an achievement but rather self entertainment. I didn't plan to do the Nightelf skins (and I didn't do them at first), it just came to be due to popular demand, as many other things.
And I haven't drawn anything, these wallpapers of mine are nothing more than something I do for about an hour or two when I'm bored with nothing left to do sometime between 12PM - 4AM at night, that's all.
They're just as someone said; "Nice Photoshopping!", anything more is just an overstatement.
Thanks for featuring my work though, I have a Tauren Tree of Life upcoming too, thought it would be proper to make it for both.
