Breakfast Topic: Easy Mode
Roadkillowns of Aerie Peak posed the question on the official forums, what is the easiest class to level? Hunter came up most frequently as an easy class to level followed by Warlocks. They usually have very little downtime. Protection Warriors and Holy Priests were often quoted as the most difficult to level.
Having leveled a Shaman, Paladin, Hunter, Priest, and Druid to level seventy myself I have to say that as a solo character, the Hunter was hands-down the easiest for me. Between my pet carrying agro for me and the glorious Feign Death ability, I was always good to go.
I'd have to say I had the hardest time with the Shaman. She was Resto for instance healing, which made fights drag out forever when soloing. I'd walk away from her for weeks at time. Now she's my favorite. I have a really hard time with melee DPS. I have a level 40 Warrior that I just can't get behind.
What makes a class easy or difficult to level?

I've gone to level cap with two druids, two paladins, warlock, shaman, hunter, and warrior; of those, the hardest by far was the warrior in any situation where he did not have heavy support (at which point he becomes a bipedal wrecking ball).
Also, it was touched on very briefly earlier, but the type of server you're on really does make a significant difference. On a PvE or lolarpee server, sure, hunters are easiest, but on a PvP server, I think there's a strong case for feral druid, simply because you're able to avoid the vast majority of ganking attempts through stealth, and those you can't avoid you can most often run away from. Add to that the best mobility in the game, strong physical DPS, quick and cheap self-healing, and a highly effective oh sh-- button in the form of bear form, and you've got a winning combination.

Like so many people pointed out already, its not hard to level but some classes make it easier in comparison if you play both, Hunters probably are easier then others. But I have to agree with some what some pointed out and I found to be true in my personal expertise.
Druid as feral (after lv20) is very efficient and “easy” for the most part people already pointed out the good parts. Stealth, dps and heals and very little down time. I want to point out another aspect. When I rolled my character on a new server with no (lv70 alts) druids was super for me, I spend no money on consumables at all (when I did spend few coppers at the start and realize I don’t use any I stopped) plus 10g flight form was a great help to bring it up with out worrying about money. When I lvled my alt warlock I did not find it to be easier but then I had all the support from my main, I don’t have to worry about money or any items because I saved a bunch before I started him.

Yes, mostly bad rets. Actually, I just posted on http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/03/19/the-light-and-how-to-swing-it-state-of-the-class/3#c11126537 that ret paladins are viable as dps because of their threat reduction, but that in order to be able to use it with a good tank, they need really good gear.

I've had one of every class and I found that my 2nd favorite, the Holy Priest is hardest to solo quest.
Which is why I only use him in instances for healing. Since lvl 10 (no lvl 57) when I first did RFC he hasn't quested outside a dungeon and it's been bliss.
Best gear, ezmode leveling.

Worst: warrior, priest, rogue
It's a good thing hunters and warlocks are tard friendly, since we don't have a step by step guide to wiping our noses like warriors and paladins do at WoWinsider. Seriously, nobody needs a guide on how to get from level 1-10. If you have to be told that you need to equip a weapon in your main hand, you probably are also too stupid to get to this site.
turkeyspit Mar 20th 2008 11:39AM
Um..your LV 1 toon comes with a weapon already equipped, so you don't even have to learn that ^_^

Oh lordy, I just laughed so loud that people at work now know I'm not actually workin.

I've levelled all classes to at least 50... and I am going to have to agree that hunter is by far the easiest, followed by warlocks and paladins.

I leveled my hunter as MM to 70, and then switched to BM when I started 25-man raiding. I also learnt the game and most of its mechanics at the same time, otherwise I would have taken up BM earlier.
I have found that leveling my paly - ret from 1 to 40, then prot, was actually much easier and faster. Since she is a Draenei, bubble-Gift of the Naaru-bandage-mana up, is the "whoopsie" sequence that got me to survive and solo elite mobs many times over.

Yeah, you leveled your hunter as the 'wrong' spec :p
First time I tried a hunter i screwed it up spamming every shot out of the door as MM.
Second time around, BM, seriously, petattack, autoshot, afk. That's every mob down. if you pull an add the pet can tank it, if you pull 2 adds FD and the pet can still tank them. Sounds like an exaggeration but it really isn't, if you macro petattack and autoshot to the same key, hunters are a 1 key 1-70 class.

I know a lot of people claim that leveling a shaman is torturous, especially in the lower levels, but that was emphatically not my experience. I've leveled my elemental shaman more quickly and enjoyably than any other class I've played. Having so many options as to playstyle and so much tactical flexibility makes leveling fun and comparatively easy. That's been my experience, anyway. Others' mileage may vary.

my mileage definitely varied. i know they get better at higher levels, but i couldn't make it past level 30- i kept dying when i would get more than 1 add, because i would refuse to just run away. too much playing a pally i suppose.

My priest was the most effortful to level, closely followed by my paladin. Easiest were my hunter and warlock.
