Tosog goes 0 to 70 in 28 and a half hours

Both are inarguably amazing feats of power leveling. How did Tosog do it? Well, if you speak German, you tell me:
EU poster Mortari of Stormscale roughly translated Tosog's report. Tosog has a lot of help from friends and guild members. He would tag monsters and then people who were not partied with him would kill them. Teams of Warlocks arranged transportation from point to point. The time played was not consecutive, and Tosog made use of the rested experience point bonus whenever possible. I still find it impressive.
This makes me wonder how much play time was actually spent on the character. If nothing else, this record represents an amazing team effort. Many players should be given credit for this accomplishment. Glückwünsche auf Ihrem erstaunlichen Zustandebringen. (Congratulations on the awesome achievement.)
(Should you chose to click the video link. I recommend that you do so when slightly inebriated and away from work. I believe that most of us can avoid tip number six.)
Update: Not to be outdone Athene and Mineva of EU Stromscale have broken this record again with an impressive 26 hour and 31 minute run. Thanks for passing this on, Itsaorc.

That screenshot shows 69-70 in 5 seconds!!! That seems unlikely without an exploit of some kind? A full quest log of 25 at ~12-14K/quest is only about 350K XP and 69-70 is about 700Kish XP if I remember correctly.
Perseus Mar 20th 2008 11:01AM
it shows 5 seconds played at 70
Fuzzfuzz Mar 20th 2008 1:37PM
It shows he has played 5 seconds at 70 not 69-70, nice try on a debunk though

Well I read this article and genuinely thought 'Wow! What a great achievement, I'm impressed, I'll watch the video.'
I *endured* the first three minutes of this mad, angry, egomanic ranting on before I turned it off.
Unless it's all an act he is a thoroughly unlikeable person. Sorry to be personal but why not just be proud of what you've done and let the result speak for itself?
enkafiles Mar 20th 2008 12:50PM
Yeah - thoroughly obnoxious ranting.
I like the thought of the logistical achievement behind these records, though - a group (guild) effort, really.
And yes - solo takes a different kind of skill.
ColinSFX Mar 20th 2008 10:13AM
Sorry, but if you're using other people to level a character, their time counts too. Fail.
Makros Mar 20th 2008 10:27AM
/agree
If it takes 10 people to level you to 70 in 28 hours then its really 280 hours played.
*Disclaimer* - 10 people was a hypothetical. I have no idea how many people he actually used.
Milktub Mar 20th 2008 10:26AM
Seems more like a feat of boredom with the game than enjoyment of the game.
turkeyspit Mar 20th 2008 10:28AM
So this guy leveled to 70, without actually killing anything by himself, and relying on the help of his T6 gear guildmates to do it.
This is seen as an accomplishment why?
TotalBiscuit Mar 20th 2008 10:41AM
You guys are exactly the target of Athene's videos. You get pissy at him, because he's an egomaniac, and he insults people.
Yeah well so do many of us, and we're successful. Do you have any idea how much fun it is to rile up nerd-rage in people? Controversial people get noticed. Arrogant/confident people get noticed. Being nice doesn't get you anywhere. All you guys have done is prove that he's doing things right. You're talking about it, you're getting angry about it, you'll know doubt show it to your friends and say 'hey, look at this jerk', and pad his viewcount all the more.
I wonder what it's like to be exploited like that :> The man's a genius, and he's playing all of you.
Wulfhere Mar 20th 2008 10:46AM
It's a good thing I haven't watched the video, clicked on the link, or otherwise helped him out then.
I think you're overestimating how important this is to people. There's been remarkably little vitriol in all of this (I'm an expert in hate) just kind of a bored shrugging of shoulders. Okay, a bunch of highly geared players can power level you to 70 if they want.
I'm still waiting for the part that makes me do more than leave halfassed comments.
TotalBiscuit Mar 20th 2008 11:02AM
Ya been reading the same comment thread as I have fella? :>
Jessica Mar 20th 2008 12:27PM
Nerd-Rage?! Lol TB you are awesome.
Tcgjarhead Mar 20th 2008 3:22PM
And what are you, his little bitch? Stop acting like its ok to be a complete douche as long as you can get a rise out of people.
TotalBiscuit Mar 20th 2008 3:30PM
Congratulations on being successfully trolled. Nothing better to prove that people will get overly defensive if accused of nerd-raging :> Rate me down all you like, it won't change the fact that a bunch of you just got angry over a comment on an MMO blog.
TotalBiscuit Mar 20th 2008 3:45PM
Only to your blinkered point of view.
Consider yourself test subjects. The test? Do you guys take this game way too seriously? Answer - Absolutely. Proof? Your angry responses. Treatment? Chill out.
Chuddy Mar 20th 2008 3:55PM
Man. Tb. Sometimes I listen to your stuff over at wcradio, and think gosh this guy is really a neat person. You know your stuff, have some good jokes, and generally put things out there to try to help people. The last part being the most commendable. And then there are other times I hang my head in shame when reading your replies. I really do like what you do in the wow-verse, but I dislike seeing you in flame responses. Not causing it or doing it, whatever. Just degrades your good body of work for me.
woez Mar 20th 2008 5:38PM
Well said, Chuddy
Kikr Mar 20th 2008 8:40PM
Funny how he chose to not reply to that one, Chuddy.
