Addon Spotlight: Its' G15 Binder

There has been a lot of talk about keyboards and mice as of late, leading many of you to look at your play style under a different light. There has also been a bit of buzz over at Macro Anatomy about binding keys to different actions and macros. Well, my friends, it's spring, love is in the air and these two fascinating subjects have found romance.
The developer of Its G15 Binder addon tipped us off to the updated version of this simple, but useful mod. It has one very simple requirement, you should probably be using Logitech's G15 Keyboard to get the most use out of this addon. I should also mention that the developer made special mention of our own Adam Holisky as a potential fan of this addon, so consider the hat tipped in your direction, Adam. The description is pretty concise, so I'll quote the developer in describing it:
"Its' G15 Binder is an AddOn designed to improve integration between the Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard and WoW. It provides simple G-key binding: just point at a button in-game and hit the G key to bind it. You can also display which keyboard mode is active via a border around the active action buttons, or set the mode to control which action bar page is active.
Please note: this AddOn does not create or manage action bars or buttons. There are a plethora of other AddOns out there that do a far better job than I could ever hope to. This AddOn will work with your existing action button set up, be it the default Blizzard bars, or heavily customised Trinity bars. Heck, you could probably bind G18 to the 'Post Auction' button if you really felt like it..."
Unfortunately, I am not among those who use the G15 keyboard, so I can't test this out. I can say that my Razer Pro Type Keyboard doesn't work with it, so I'm guessing it is named for a specific keyboard for good reason. It's a simple addon, configuring it looks straight forward. To access the configuration interface use this command:
/g15 config
That's it for this installment, I'd love to get some feedback about your thoughts on this one, if you happen to use this keyboard. Dismissed!
Note: I want this keyboard more than I want to stomp on the Easter Bunny this weekend! (That's a lot)

haleluia! seriously, I specifically set up Shift+Alt+[A-Z, a-j] combinations for my keys and never, ever got them to work properly.
This is full of win.

Did you ever try bongos?
Or if you are pressed for space you can always make a macro like that.

I have a G11... any idea on how well that works?

Should work the same as a g11 is a g15 with the lcd cut off

I have a Mac, and the G11 I have does not fully function with Mac OSX. (I dual boot into Vista). Will this allow me to use the keys on the Mac side?

No, because it uses a g15 profile, which requires the game manager program.

Wow; I didn't expect this to show up in an addon spotlight... Thanks! :)

I too bound all my G-keys in the key manager to CTRL-ALT-A, CTRL-ALT-B, etc. I even exported the setup so that every time I reformat my computer, I can easily restore those settings. Is there really any reason to download this if everything's already set up?

Sure; there's a few. First up, by using the binder, it can actually show the name of the G key you've got bound to a particular action button as if it was a real key (so, for example, showing something like "G5" or "M2 G31" in the button.)
Also, the binder can use the keyboard mode in a few ways. It can attempt to put a border around the buttons that are active in the current mode, or use the mode to control which action bar page is active.
*Functionally* speaking, it's not much different. But I hope I've made it nicer and a bit more useful than the old "manually find 54 unused key combinations and bind them both in and out of game" system.

As straight forward as it might be, I can't get it to work. Got the chat msg to mouse over action bar button and press G key.
Nothing happens. Key binding is not "off".
Any hints?

This isn't really the best place for tech support. :)
The most immediate problem that I can think of is that the profile isn't correctly installed. The profile program can be incredibly finnicky when it comes to this. Go in, and make sure that you don't have another "World of Warcraft" profile which might be interfering, make sure the "Its' G15 Binder" profile has been configured for your WoW executable, and check the "lock this profile" just to be on the safe side.

Looks nice ... I have a G15 on a Mac and its not fully supported, maybe this will allow me to get full use of the G keys.
