Le map du Blizzard

Blizzard has released an interactive map of Paris, done in the style of World of Warcraft. Paris is the location for the World Wide Invitational 2008, and the map is a real gem. If you click on any of the locations, a tooltip will popup with two facts about it. One fact is real, and one is an in-joke tied to the World of Warcraft.
When I found this, myself and several other writers were laughing out loud at them. While it's not as good as a Wrath of the Lich King map (to quote fellow writer Alex Ziebart, "Holy cow, is that a map for Wrath?" *looks closer* "Oh... it's just Paris. Lame."), it's still pretty darn funny and cool.
For instance, when you click on the La Defense up in the left hand corner of the map, the quip at the bottom reads "If you put Tempest Keep in the middle of Stormwind it might look something like this – but with less dragonhawks." Just hilarious, especially if you've ever had to deal with the annoying dragonhawks in Tempest Keep: The Eye.

The tooltip for the Eiffel Tower reads: "Like Karazhan you will need to brave many stairs in order to ascend to the top of this magnificent piece of architecture. A Tour will improve your stamina by +25. 26th century graffiti: 'You must construct additional pylons.' "
Clicking on The Louvre reveals: "If you liked Ironforge museum you'll be astonished by this one. The picture of the smiling gnome is a sure win."
The Cemetary Pere Lachaise tells us it has "Absolutely no doom weed, or gloom weed. Guaranteed."
If you have a moment check it out, you won't be disappointed. And remember to stay tuned to WoW Insider for complete coverage of the World Wide Invitational 2008!

Actually the French word for map is "Carte" :P
This is really cool though! I got to go to a lot of these places last summer on my trip to France, and seeing them in WoW-style makes me feel all warm and sunny inside.

Well, it should be something like "La carte de Blizzard" and the render is quite nice. :)
@ Jason: Yeah, last summer was really sunny in Paris. It was so good.

That is just a lot of cool. It seems that everything that Blizzard does they have fun with it.

Cool to see a map of Paris in the WOW style. And love the notes in the pop-ups.

Yea, this is really cool. I know they made this because of the Invitational, but they should really make them for other cities as well.

I've been to Paris before, going there this year for WWI08 but I can't believe I've been such a noob! I forgott to pick up the flight point last time I was there...and my hearth is still set in England :(
Ahwell, very very cool Map, I will be using it to navigate while I am down there!

Off topic, but does anyone have any suggestions on hotels/recommended closest to the area where the event is going to be held?
I really don't want to end up on the wrong side of Paris >

Just buy a metro ticket for 2 days, you can't get easier. Personally I wouldn't go to Paris just for Blizzard, Its just a waist of money to go there and don't see the city. On the other hand, 2 days isn't enough to see Paris
