Player versus NPC health

So, let's take a look at what some mobs are that have around 22,000 to 23,000 health. Remember, this is as much as a fully equipped tier six warrior will probably have in raid.
- Archaedas, Level 40 Elite, Uldaman
- Princess Theradras, Level 51 Elite, Maraudon
- Timmy the Cruel (Timmeh!), Level 58 Elite, Stratholme Live
- Highlord Omokk, Level 59 Elite, Lower Blackrock Spire
- Magister Kalendris, Level 60 Elite, Dire Maul West
- Maleki the Palllid, Level 61 Elite, Stratholme Undead
- Novice Astromancer, Level 70, Tempest Keep the Eye (pulled in packs around Solarian)
- Culuthas, Level 70 Elite Demon, Netherstorm
- Malor the Zealous, Level 60 Elite, Stratholme Live
- Gahz'rilla, Level 46 Elite, Zul'Farrak
- Cho'Rush the Observer, Level 60 Elite, Dire Maul North
- Edwin VanCleef – 4,100 health, Level 21 Elite, The Deadmines
- Houndmaster Loksey – 7,700 health, Level 34 Elite, Scarlet Monastery Library Wing
- Mekgineer Thermaplugg – 9,200 health, Level 34 Elite, Gnomeregan
- Herod – 12,000 health, Level 40 Elite, Scarlet Monastery Armory Wing
- Morphaz – 12,000 health, Level 52 Elite, Sunken Temple
- Atal'alarion – 16,000 health, Level 50 Elite, Sunken Temple
- Archivist Galford – 19,000 health, Level 60 Elite, Stratholme Live
Are there any mobs that you've compared your health to? Any that you want to hit someday? The health on Ony sounds like a nice target for myself.

"Most can do more DPS than a prot spec'd Warrior or Paladin can (baring exceptions, of course). That means that they'll eventually win in a match."
I can say from first hand experience with most that that's simply not true. I've soloed all the instances in the game up to and including normal mode underbog on my lvl 70 t4/t5 prot warrior.
McKree Mar 23rd 2008 2:36PM
As a fellow warrior player, I get the feeling that you must be a very patient man indeed if you actually soloed through all of it.

Well, I've tried to do it with my T4 prot warrior before. Now that I'm buffed in T6 I'll give it a try this week and post next weekend on my success / failure.
Best,
Adam.

Underbog was especially fun solo. It was a great way to get Sporegarr rep too. You become intensely aware of agro radius doing this sort of thing. And you pick up interesting little variations on things too -- I remember the sporebats before the hunter boss being a real pain early on because of the way their psychic screams could lead to adds... that's not an issue in solo since they apparently only fear bomb the second on the agro table. Or something. Solo mode they don't even use the ability.

and just to be clear this solo streak is over the course of the last 3 years or so of gameplay. Pre-bc I got as far as Maraudon (in t1/t2 mix). Scarlet Monastery runs was a great way to make money back then as a prot. The rest have followed in the bc era. And while it does take patience I find that's a hallmark of most prot players. Besides it's just something of a lark to pass the time periodically. A diversion when I'm sick to death of the same ol' dailies or rep grinds or whatever.

That's interesting. I used to solo the old instances, up to SM, as well.
Did you do underbog using prot gear while prot specd? What stance did you spend most your time in?

Prot spec (a 12/5/44 "aggressive" prot build that I often use in raids versus the 8/5/48 "defensive" prot build I also use in raids) in a threat set parked in defensive stance. The only time I ever really spec out of prot is for the occasional AV weekend and every now and then for arenas when I have surplus gold.
I farm, solo quest, etc. all in prot. Happily for the most part as well. I'm content to kill more slowly than my dps counterparts but never having to worry about dying and never having to slow down to eat makes up for it imho. ymmv.

Umm, some cannot be soloed. Like Uldaman - you need a certain number of players to activate the last boss.
Freehugz Mar 23rd 2008 2:32PM
they can't do more dps than a prot warrior because of all the warrior's mitigation.

The author is comparing damage to a punching bag by both characters. Not by the characters against each other.
Aiur Mar 23rd 2008 2:51PM
Well, it's a pity this probably doesn't mean too much considering that each mob's armory, parry, dodge, etc varies...

You prob. could have just added this on to the end of your other article. Good luck reaching your post quota.

What's a post quota?
What's mine?

Adam Holisky Mar 23rd 2008 3:28PM

Very good mod that works with other players health too. It gets kinda weird when something gets healed but other then that it great.

Since AoE got nerfed, I really envy some tanks making their way to solo instances. I wish I wouldnt have to make so less now with my mage as I still have pushback from a lv1 mob and my aoe gets to nowhere - not even counting that from my mana.
