Gamespot hosts patch 2.4

Does this prove that patch 2.4 is tomorrow? Nope. For one thing, I've had the entire patch downloaded for the past few days according to that there background downloader widget you consarned kids keep jawing about. In my day, we didn't have background downloaders! We just downloaded patches and we liked it that way. It's entirely possible Blizzard has released the same patch to download sites just to ease its release without intending it to go live tomorrow.
Still, it seems like a strong hint that tomorrow is the day, as both John Patricelli and I speculated when asked on the WoW Insider Radio Show two weeks ago. If the downloader has already downloaded, and now we're seeing the patch on sites, it doesn't seem like it can possibly be too far off. I'd bet a surprisingly small amount of money (due to my parsimony) that tomorrow is patch day. I hope your addons come through it with minimal scathing.
Thanks to Joel for the tip.

Because we know what things like hyperbole and brevity mean, how to condense facts, and how not to be a rude jackass?
Yes, the background downloader doesn't download the whole patch. I'm also not a miner from the 1890's.
I guess that's how.

It's quite easy; 99% of the WoWInsider articles are idiotic, wrong, or based off completely false information that is well known to be false. They also cater to the stupid (I refer you to the "defense cap" article). Basically, whatever article you read on WoWInsider, take it with a silo of salt, then go elsewhere for accurate news.

If you're trying to say someone is stupid, try not to look like one yourself.

wow TonyMotorola, I think you need to /logout of WoW for awhile and login to RL man...
J Mar 24th 2008 9:53PM
I don't see why you people have to be total jerks.

That's why.

Fortunately, we have Tony to reinforce ignorant misconceptions in a nested format, somewhat deeper than the front page.

If this is indeed the full patch, you could save time by downloading it tonight. The background downloader currently has the patch at 251MB which is only about 25% of the 946MB total.
I'm still not completely sure it's coming out tomorrow but I guess we can tell if they put up the 8+ hour downtime message up tonight.

Hey, here's an idea. It's wacky, but I think it just might work.
The next time you think about making a comment like this, do one of two things.
A) Read the post. Read it again. Consider it in context. Nod thoughtfully to yourself and, instead of taking everything literally, apply some critical thinking skills and then post an insightful, interesting comment regarding some point or another in the post.
B) Imagine walking up to a big, bearded, biker standing outside your local dive. Say to him, paraphrased, what you just said. Then watch as his fist knocks your teeth the fuck out of your mouth.
In case this is too "subtle" or, god forbid, you're taking me literally, let me put it very, very simply: You're a fucking asshole, nobody likes you, and nothing you have to say has any value whatsoever. In fact, anyone who meets you and your kind on the internet immediately wishes they could slap people unconscious with their minds alone, because no one as stupid as this should be allowed on the internet.
Thank you, once again, for proving that the General Fuckwad Theory is 100% true. Shitcock, indeed.

I believe that's what most English-speakers refer to as "Light Humor".
If you can't make sense of it, you may need the Add-On called "CentsOHumrr"; unfortunately, it's un-recoverable, so if you accidentally deleted it, you're out of luck.
Wulfhere Mar 24th 2008 9:55PM
It's too bad I can't respond to you being an idiot further down the page, but here goes.
"I thought this site was about informing people, not reinforcing ignorant misconceptions on the front page."
He links to exactly what the background downloader does in the post. So you're stupid and can't read. Okay? Okay.
Wulfhere Mar 24th 2008 9:58PM
Just plain can't read, huh?
nirikun Mar 24th 2008 10:02PM
Anyway. http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=5539953968&sid=1
The testing phase for 2.4 is officially concluded.
I think that's pretty much a 99.999...% (wink) confirmation of 2.4 going out tomorrow.
nshunter Mar 24th 2008 10:06PM
if this site is stupid and idiotic what are you doing reading it
Helden Mar 24th 2008 10:12PM
BINGO
This site is a brilliant site, it is informative and thousands of people come here knowing that the writers (who by the way are very entertaining witty and informative) are doing everything they can to give you the best POV on the situation as well as all known facts. Of course certain things may turn out to be incorrect but thats because they are talking about things that are yet to happen. But i would put money on the fact they are right more times than they are wrong.
beefdefender Mar 24th 2008 10:19PM
for a counteropinion on patch day - i say not tomorrow as there is no extended (or even full) maintenance notice up yet. And usually those are up night before even on non-patch notes. And I'm pretty sure 2.4 will need to be rolled out server side on an exteneded maint day...
nirikun Mar 24th 2008 10:22PM
Maintenance posts aren't usually posted very early in the morning on the Pacific Coast. Last week the notice wasn't posted until 1:30a PST, 4:30 EST, and that was just for regular maintenance.
So the fact that there isn't an maintenance post yet is also irrelevant. We shall have to wait and see.

TonyMotorola, in your infinite wisdom and clearly bounded sense of humour, can you please point out the "factual inaccuracies"?
I for one, don't see any.
KiwiRed Mar 25th 2008 1:13AM
People seem to have missed the fact that while the full 2.4.0 patch may weigh in at 946mb, what we're pre-downloading is the 2.3.3-2.4.0 patch, which is not going to be that size.
Tom Mar 25th 2008 1:55AM
so you mean this background download of the path 2.4 just became available? That's weird because im pritty sure i downloaded the patch 2 weeks ago with the background downloader.
