In all of this spec debate, there is not much mention of the fact that daggers is a much more roguely spec, lore-wise. That's important to me, but I'm the sort of person that won't equip a head slot item unless it conceals my toon's face. It's not all about the maths.
My experience as a tier 4 combat dagger rogue, running with very similarly geared combat swords rogues, is that they have the edge on trash (because they don't need to be behind to max their damage) and daggers have the edge on bosses (where everyone is behind). Total raid DPS is probably in favour of the swords, but boss DPS is what counts to prevent wipes and enrages and there I'd strongly disagree with anyone who says daggers don't cut it.
