Breakfast topic: The best parts of patch 2.4

We've all had time to read the notes and tinker around with the new changes. My plan for the day was to check out the notes and then head on in the battlegrounds. I must admit that I didn't get a chance to try out the new Warsong Gulch. I'm sure I'll get to it soon once the queue settles down. I did get a chance to arena, and that queue was popping incredibly fast.Apparently Bornakk spoke the truth about queue relief.
My favorite moment of the game was purchasing a Nether Vortex from the vendor in Shattrath. Just fifteen Badges of Justice and I had a shiny purple BoE mat in my bag. I promptly handed it over to my boyfriend so that he could complete his Stormherald. I was kind of surprised that Vortexes were going for about 200 to 250 gold on the auction house.

What do you like most about patch 2.4 so far?

somthing I wanna ask.
The vendors in shatt
were they gone for most people?
on my server they werent there...
I was sad and I cried

They are on the ledge around the room. surprising how many WoW players have no spatial awareness.
Milktub Mar 26th 2008 9:13AM
I too couldn't find Gera's at first. I wanted to confirm that Vortices were saleable, so I just started flying around the room. I was about to give up when I saw my favorite Na'aru vendor above my head.
imparush Mar 26th 2008 9:23AM
well you could just use /target Na'aru and then you know where he is.

The best part was just about downing Drek when the BG server went kaput and kicked everyone out with no honor. The lag was a nice enhancement as well. 5 minute rez times added nicely to game play.
On our battlegroup there was no WSG queue because there was no WSG.
Sarcasm aside, I do like the new welfare blues from factions for pvp. I don't want to waste my honor on Season 1 stuff when Season 2 stuff will be available (not) soon.

Heck I am ON a carebear server, and still the Horde were being a pain - what's with them anyway? I took my pally out there to do the dailies, and flagged Horde took turns standing right next to me so that I couldn't consecrate without flagging and inviting gankage.
Aren't we in this unlocking period together?

The absurd amount of honor you get for winning an AV is awesome.

Didn't do much of the content but liked -
- fishing daily quest. Did the crocolisks in SW one and got some cufflinks that sold for 11g at a vendor.
- Shattrath Sunwell dailies. Two were relative easy (Sunfury plans in Netherstorm, multiphase testing in Naggers).
- minmap of the Sunwell Isle in Shattrath looks really good.
DIDN'T like -
- drop rate on the Shat Sunwell daily for Nether Residue. Don't set out to do this quest in one go. Just take it at the start of the day, and you will gradually complete it.
- idiots unable to find badge vendor in Shattrath, despite the HUGE crowd of alts on the ledge that were not there before.
- trade channel flooded with people asking 'how do I get to Sunwell' or other questions indicating that they did not read the patch notes.
V Magius Mar 26th 2008 11:31AM
They also didn't read the quest that sends you there. Quite blatantly says exactly where you need to go to get the Sunwell Isle.

I made Brilliant Glass and realized they added a 1 day CD to it /cry.
The dailies were pretty quick and easy on the rogue but the paladin had a bit of a harder time fighting for mobs.
The daily fishing quest is frickin awesome! I got a new baby croc from doing it on the pally.
I love the combat log changes and the new interface menu, much much MUCH easier to find what you're looking for.
All in all I'm happy with the changes.

Wow. Where to start?
Ghost wolf change is fucking insane great. Kael was a blast, that whole instance was fun. Having a place to gank the fuck out of alliance (you think they can play...but are massively mistaken).
Haven't touched BGs or arena yet...but lowering 2v2 queue times..wow...this is great stuff!
mcclary Mar 26th 2008 9:18AM
i second you on the ghostwolf change. I thought "So this is what its like to be a druid..."
I enjoyed the marks to honor quest. I turned in just enough to get my battlemasters trinket for the Spriest.
The new honor payout wasn't as substantial as i thought it was going to be, but thats OK, still seemed a little better payout per kill than pre-patch.

Way to go. On my server, the Horde hunting parties (literally, packs of 7-8 camping the Erratic Sentries and Wretcheds) resulted in the Alliance boycotting the zone. Have fun when the rest of the servers are on Phases 2 and 3, and you're still 60% through Phase 1.
Heilig Mar 26th 2008 10:26AM
The camping was so bad last night that I transferred to a carebear server. At one point there were literally over 100 horde standing outside Magister's Terrace just waiting for allies to come out of the instance to try and summon. I'm a prot pally and was doing the sentry daily and had 9 horde on me before they finally got me down, without an ally in sight.
World PvP I understand, but this is ridiculous.
censorman Mar 26th 2008 10:44AM
I hear ya....but Alliance started it with me.
Running my girlfriend around doing dailies when we were jumped by atleast 4 alliance. Unfortunately, haha, my buttons and add ons were screwy and I couldn't heal..resto shaman without the ability to heal. Haha.
After that, I camped teams for hours. At one point I had a rogue, lock, and 3 mobs (1 elite) on me. And they all died. :) It's a blast killing 12 year olds.

Nice news for the Shammy I hardly play... the cast time for Ghost Wolf was changed from 3s to 2s... meaning that if you take the Improved Ghost Wolf talent, Ghost Wolf becomes an instant cast. Excellent for that quick getaway, or the hard night of farming herbs and/or metal.
Can anyone comment on how the new spirit/intellect connection changes things?
evan Mar 26th 2008 10:53AM
As a priest, my mp5 used to be something like 450/210 (non-casting/casting) and now it's 734/290. I'd say the spirit/int thing was a good change.
