Phase 1 Dailies: The Sanctum Wards
Welcome to the first post of a new series on the daily quests available in Patch 2.4. I'll be going through all the quests that are available in phase 1, one by one. This is one of the two daily quests on the new Isle of Quel'Danas, and it's called "The Sanctum Wards." It goes well with Erratic Behavior, which I'll cover in the next post. The quest itself is pretty simple, and goes in two parts.
- Hunt down Wretched Devourers and Wretched Fiends, and slaughter them for their Mana Remnants. You'll need four Remanants, and the drop rate felt like it was around 50%. The mobs are only level 68, and don't pose much of a problem; they do a puny drain life/mana and a very short silence. They can be found starting in the Shattered Sun Staging Area and spreading in an arc down near the western shoreline.
- Once you have your four Mana Remnants, come back up near the Staging Area to a Crystal Ward (pictured, at 49,35) and right-click the stack of Mana Remnants in your inventory. There's some nice pretty zapping effects, and you're done with your quest. 9g and 150 Shattered Sun rep await you.

Actually there are 7 total dailies:
2 Sunwell Isle
2 Hellfire
3 Shatt
You are probably forgetting the gathering-profession-only one.

There are actually 3 dailies available in Shattrah, if you have a gathering skill.

...which is very off-putting for those tailor/enchanters like myself who got screwed during the netherwing rep grind only to get the shaft again here.
Is there really no way for them to include an option for us? Maybe disenchant some item for the shard that we then turn in.

As a protection paladin, the Wretched Devourer sucked my mana dry in no time. I basically have to stop underestimating these mobs and not pull more than one at a time. Single pull mob kill makes protection paladin weep.

Seconded their Mana Drain wrecking Tankadins. Even with Seal/Judgement of Wisdom up, I still ended the fight with no mana and very little health(due to no mana for heals). Was forced to do them one at a time too. I did not like.

There is no way the drop rate is 50% unless they hotfixed it since yesterday. After killing about 20 of these guys I had exactly 1 remnant. And their drain mana was affecting me pretty hugely as a holy paladin. Would have to drink after every two kills it seemed.

Maybe 10% drop on those damn things...not worth the time (and also to compete with everyone else).

I second the statements about a severe reduction in the drop rate for Mana Remnants coinciding apparently with the opening of the Armory. Perhaps the Armory and Mana Remnant drop rate is a coincidence just on Malfurion... is that the case w/ you all or was it a yesterday thing for everyone regardless of the phase of the war effort?

Yeah those guys suck. I am a hunter and until I figured out HOW to properly fight these guys, I was getting beat up pretty badly.
I send in my pet from out of range, first. Then I creep forward until I just hit range then open up. I am never mana drained and all I have to do is drop a single pet ment on my pet.
As for Paladins, yeah they get royally screwed on that quest. Blizzard could tone down the mana drain, eh?
