WWI 2008 tickets sold out

And some players are unhappy that they didn't get one, because they really did try. Apparently there were some problems with the payment system, and quite a few people got an incorrect error message when trying to pick up tickets. No word on whether Blizzard's going to compensate those angry folks or do anything for them.
The good news is that even if you didn't get a ticket, worry not -- WoW Insider's got you covered. We will do our best to have folks on the scene and reporting live, so stay tuned to the site for lots more info about (and hopefully from) WWI 2008.

Forgive my nubness, but does this mean no BlizzCon this year (or anymore for that matter)?

Blizzcon isn't typically a yearly event. I don't know how often they have something like this either, but Blizz has always been a little sporadic. I'm positive there will be a Blizzcon likely the year after next though. They skipped a year between the Murky and the Murloc Suit, I think.
... no, I don't remember the years, just the prizes.

For those that thought they wanted to go, and still didn't try and get their ticket -- Guess you didn't really want to go after all, or you'd have bought that ticket ASAP.
To those that tried to get a ticket and failed because of the messed up payment services -- Sucks to be you.
