With this new release, blizz should open free transfers for ppl from other countries to specific servers like "server X is full of brazilian, so all brazilian players who wants to move, go to that server. And bla bla bla". This way, we'll have a chance to regroup ppl with the same GMT in the same place.
I play @Blackhand and I'm from Brazil. Prime Time at Blackhand is around 7:00-9:00 p.m. and here in Brazil this time is 9:00 - 11:00 p.m. The only server full of brazilians is Warsong, but it's pvp and I cant go from pve to pvp. I know a lot of brazilians who plays in pve server and are spread among several servers.
I'm not here to ask Blizz to release a Portuguese version of WoW, just to make some way to group ppl from the same country to enjoy the game together.
Am I wrong in my wish?

A few things though: there is a huge variation in the vocabulary and “accents” of “Latin American Spanish” since we’re talking about 20-some different countries – they have some serious work cut out for them. Like the US versus the UK the same word can have a completely different meaning, like “boot”. Perhaps some of the players who use the la versión castellana could indicate if the vosotros verb forms are used as well as “la zeta” in the recorded speech, neither of which is really used in Latin America.( Sorry for the language twist - I teach Spanish linguistics so this is professional curiosity as well as game play.) I know that on 2 of the servers I play on there are Spanish language guilds. Will Blizzard allow whole guilds to move en masse or will it be a piece-meal player-by-played migration? BTW – Latin American includes Brazil, so any Portuguese localizations planned, Blizzard?

In the UK, we just get the US version of spelling, meaning etc. Fanny pack. fnar fnar. and it's Honour, not honor!

En: Well... this is only a change in the client so it might help a little those players who's english is not that good. But we still have to connect to US servers so there's not that much of a change.

OMG! OH POR DIOS! if Blizzard names Silvermoon, LunaArgenta like in the EU version... I promise... I'll shoot myself before installing the client... Me pego un tiro antes de instalar ese cliente... hope they don't force LA players to use THAT client...

I am transferring off Icecrown to a Spanish server at the first opportunity.

Mas DPS! Vamos!

OMG spanish translation is terrible. Iplay on a spanish server forced by some RL friends *shrugs*, but i just refuse to use the spanish client. Why on earth would they feel the need to translate toponyms??!
drht Mar 28th 2008 4:52AM
If it were only toponyms... The eu-spanish client translates NPC surnames... (try to imagine searching wowhead for a npc)
Bart Mar 27th 2008 11:18AM
This new server might work the same way as on the Europe, US version will not be compatible, the whole wow will be translated to Spanish.
I am Brazilian, currently playing on Warsong realm ( the heaven for BR players, and the hell for US as they say ), but a lower latency ( < 250ms ) would indeed benefit our game play, but never justify the purchase of a new wow registration, neither to see an npc calling you "hey hermano".
So, i will continue on my server, with my version of wow, until a Brazilian Portuguese server is launch... ( what might never happen, unfortunately ).

En: I know it's offtopic, but why Warsong? I can't bare the server's environment. It's pure trash, all the time being called names and it's PVP, not exactly my play style. What is the problem with brazilians in playing in another server, not-PVP one? I play at Blackhand-US btw, get on and say hi :)

Well, they could scrap all current spanish voices alltogether. Spanish voices suck... They sound as if they had been recorded over some desktop microphone over teamspeak using crappy codecs. I play the english version of the game just for this (and of course, because wow-lista.es ain't half as good as wowhead.com)
Although, I might download the localization pack for latin america just for laughs :)

EN: How about the Latin Americans currently playing in the European Spanish realms? I really hope we get a chance to transfer.
Does not sound good for me. I really don't have money to spend on a second account and much less abandon my 4 level 70's (and various alts).
If a fellow LA can ask this question in the US forums, it would be nice to know.
No me suena bien a mi.
Holybeast Mar 27th 2008 12:16PM
I'll ask that for you =)

By the way, there is already a petiton open in the EU forums:

Please show your support if you are on the same situation.
@Holybeast, thanks man, let us know if you get a reply :)
