MT, MrT, MagT, MST, Magisters' Terrace
We hit on this a while back, but now that Magisters' Terrace has finally landed on the live realms, it's time to choose an official abbreviation. Players are apparently all over the place, but the time for debate and discussion is over. Let's come up with the real choice for Magisters' Terrace abbreviation. When making this decision, lots of things have to be considered. MT is out no matter what, as not only do many things in game use it as an abbreviation (main tank, mistell, Montana -- ok maybe that last one is a stretch), but it also leads us to confusion with the other "MT" instance in the game: Mana Tombs. For that reason, MaT is also out, though MagT has found a lot of foothold with many players, as has MgT. I originally thought MT would work well (since Mana Tombs is actually "Mana-Tombs," and would therefore be abbreviated M-T), but I haven't see that too much so far.
But almost surprisingly, the thing I've seen most players using is something that I originally mentioned way back as just a joke. Yes, most players I've seen are actually describing the instance as MrT. Not that that makes any more sense, but it does kind of provide a nice homage to a Mohawked WoW hero.
So in our (un)official capacity as WoW Insider, one of the 50 most influential blogs on the net, we're declaring the winner: from now on, the new Sunwell 5man will be known as "MrT." And we pity the fool who doesn't agree.
Haven't been to MrT yet (or MagT, or MgT, or whatever you decide to call it)? We've got a Kalecgos-sized roundup of info on the brand new five-man, including a step-by-step walkthrough of what's in there and how to kill it.Filed under: Analysis / Opinion, Instances, Lore

I think we should encourage good typing skills by insisting all words in World of Warcraft (see what I did there) are spelled out in their entirety. Think about a world with 10 million more 80 Word Per Minute typists!

I bet you r one of the ppl that dont like using voip either ehh??
so yea im liking MST, so im gonna try that n see if it sticks.
stonehead Mar 27th 2008 6:09PM
I don't like saying voip, but I don't have a problem using it as an alternative to standard telephone service.
What does that have to do with typing though?
ryz62 Mar 27th 2008 6:21PM
its just that ppl that dont like abbreviation's generally dont care about being as efficient as possible, like using voip instead of typing everything out.

What about Maj? I like the sound of that....
Ladli Mar 27th 2008 5:44PM
Maybe I'm not properly hitting on the humor intended here, but I do have to ask why MST is an option? Since when is taking the last letter of the first word of the instance and sticking it in the acronym acceptable?

MrT makes it extremely easy to remember and recognize. Besides... NIGHT ELF MOHAWK!~
Sudasian Mar 27th 2008 5:59PM
I pity the fool that does MrT without two mages.
(heard around various servers)

We did it with a pally tank, shadow priest, enhancement shaman, feral drood, and priest healer.
Oops, no mages.

On Sunstrider (official Kael'thas server, got to count for something) it's mostly being known as MgT or in some cases MT
Alootrinn Mar 27th 2008 6:04PM
In the Penny Arcade Alliance on Dark Iron, it is known as MrT.

/vote 1 MrT
It coincides as newest instance since the advertisement.
It is instantly recognisable as "that new instance" not maybe Mana tombs or Main tank or MagTheridons w/e.
MrT ftw!
Badger Mar 27th 2008 8:52PM
/agree. MrT it is.
Wikt Mar 27th 2008 6:06PM
I'm using MgT.
Saphia Mar 28th 2008 11:25AM
MgT makes me think of work as in Management. Let's not use that. :)
BaboonNL Mar 27th 2008 6:15PM
MrT > MST > the rest
Shamonue Mar 27th 2008 6:23PM
What about Mater ?
sweetness Mar 27th 2008 6:20PM
MgT on my server
C. E. Croix Mar 27th 2008 6:23PM
I've been refering to it as MgT.
Anyone who calls it Mr. T is a dim-witted twit that probably thinks Chuck Norris jokes and parroting "The cake is a lie." is the cutting edge of comedy.

Ooh, look at Mr. Smarty "I have two first initials and a silent X in my name" Frenchypants.
