Sunwell Phase 2 daily quest walkthroughs

Starting early yesterday afternoon and into the night, quite a few servers have unlocked the 2nd phase of the Shattered Sun Offensive at the Isle of Quel'danas, known as the Sun's Reach Sanctum (We can't confirm for sure who was first, although rumor has it that Cenarius was a strong contender, and I'm sure accounts will differ unless Blizzard decides to establish a tracking page like they did for the Ahn'Qiraj event). This means a new building under control of the offensive , a tradeskill vendor (no ability to repair just yet, alas), and a handful of new daily quests dedicated to unlocking the 3rd phase, the Sun's Reach Armory.
Look after the break for links to walkthroughs for every Phase 2 daily quest!

Click on the links below to go to a full walkthrough of each daily quest:
You can find the new building just a bit south of the phase 1 building, where you will find the aforementioned tradeskill vendor and 2 new daily quests. The daily quests are "Distraction at the Dead Scar" and "The Battle for the Sun's Reach Armory."
In addition to the dailies for unlocking the Armory, there is now also a daily that will lead to the establishment of a new portal to Quel'danas from the middle of Shattrath if completed enough times. This quest is known as "Intercepting the Mana Cells."
Finally, once the portal itself is unlocked, there will be a new daily called Know Your Ley Lines, which isn't part of the progression, but is quick and easy and gives you an egress back to Shattrath City. You'll find the quest giver for this one in the Sun's Reach Sanctum building on the Isle of Quel'danas.
If you missed out on helping your server unlock phase 2, don't despair. All the Phase 1 dailies are still there, just under different names. You can check out Eliah Hecht's phase 1 guides here for help on completing those. For more information on both phases, you can read John Himes' phase 1 beta impressions here, or his phase 2 beta impressions here. Good luck with unlocking the next phase, and keep your browser pointed at WoW Insider for all the latest information about the Shattered Sun Offensive, patch 2.4, and beyond!

I have a question that I hope someone can answer:
When the next phase is unlocked, are the changes immediate (i.e., changes seeable ingame) or do they kick everyone off, do at certain time, or what? (I was trying to stay on and wait for my realm to get to it, but logged at 97%, too tired)

From what it sounds like (I was in raid, but some of the guildies were around), the second it gets to 100% the other NPCs spawn and everything sort of 'loads in'. The Island wasn't closed, and there's some enviromental changes that take over.
Then everyone gets on the bombing quest, and things get more laggy. /sigh

Question for a PTR player.
We complete Phase 1 and now working on the armory, does the Phase 1 dailies help towards the armory percentage? or do only the 2(3 if you include the portal) new dailies help open the armory?
Arabelli Mar 27th 2008 9:48AM
Since the PTR was a timed opening of events, not based on percentages I mean, I don't honestly know. I know that the mana battery are counted -just- to the portal opening as it has a different percentage listing than the armory on the Island, so it's possible only the new stuff counts to the armory.
Just not sure.

I am leaning towards only the 2 quests helping the percentage. If not this will quickly snowball where Phase 1 takes 2 days, Phase 2 takes a day, Phase 3 takes 12 hours, and Phase 4 takes 2 hours....unless the raise the amount of quests needed per percent; which is possible too.

I have a question that I hope someone can answer, as I haven't found this information on any of the sunwell roundup articles, and this is the only WoW related sight I seem to be able to get to at work.
How are the percentages calculated? Is it just the pure number of times that the dailys are done? Or does the number of times a particular percentage of lvl 70s do the quests? Or is it something way off base that I'm not thinking about? In other words, how was the 67% I saw this morning calculated?
OK, that was more than one question... but should only have one answer. Thanks to anyone who can satisfy my curiousity.

On each server, regardless of player's faction, the two dailies must each be completed a specific number of times (I believe on the order of a few thousand) for the next phase to open up.
The percentages the NPCs give you is probably a straight percent of how many times their daily has been completed over how many times it needs to be completed.

Do you know if this is relative to server population?
Tordek Mar 27th 2008 6:12PM
It's not relative to the population of the server, i saw a blue post that said there was a auto-unlock system in place which starts the new faze after a set amount of time.

From what I saw on the PTR, the Mana Cell quest only applies to the portal. In addition, the only two quests that apply to opening round 3 are the first bombing run quest and the spear the demon by the portal quest.
In addition, the number of times those quests are completed are what counts towards the total. However, there is a time after which the phase will end all by itself.

Stormrage (US) finished the dailies around 10:30 last night (the 26th). Probably not first, but may be pretty high up there.
