Bombing run nerfed
Yesterday, after the realms finally came back from the small 2.4.1 patch, I logged on for my usual round of dailies. The first thing I did was to group up with another player for Distraction at the Dead Scar, hoping to get it done in one try. And we succeded -- in fact, we got it done by about halfway through the first run! I've never finished that quest that soon, even in a full group of five. So I grew suspicious that perhaps the difficulty of this daily was reduced in the patch. And indeed, MMO-Champion is reporting that the following changes were made to the quest:
- Eredar Sorcerers now die in one hit instead of two
- Pit Overlords now die in two hits instead of three

I was wondering about that. I actually missed out on sorcerors because I would fire a second bomb before the first hit in some cases and then it was already dead.
I won't complain. 3 people in a group and with all of us focusing on 1 type we still couldn't get it done in one run for everybody unless we timed out mounting perfectly.
Besides, you spend over half of this bombing run waiting to actually bomb.

Dagnabit! I thought I was just getting better at it. It took me 2 trys this morning, four tries yesterday morning, and about 7 every other time. I've always solo'd it though. Never tried it in a group. The problem I always found was the scorcerers didn't spawn as fast as others were downing them. A few times I made runs with nothing to get but the scorcerers and there wasn't a single one standing. Now THAT is annoying.
If I could ask Blizz for one improvement though, I would ask that they double the flight speed up to the scar, then slow it down to its current speed.... if I could ask for two I would ask that the flight path be much higher. I would like a more impressive arial view of the island. That way when you come in for the bombing run you are DIVE bombing. SWEET!

/agree
Also the flight duration FROM the isle to any city is annoyingly long.

Sweet. Someone agree's with me. That will show all those teachers and counselors who said I would never amount to anything. Woo hooo.
Conformity FTW!!!

I soloed it each day in one try but yeah, the sorcerers are a pain in the ass, I allways finished killing the last while leaving the dead scar just before its too late

booooooo
it didn't need a nerf. I always did it in 2 runs, and didn't mind having to do that second flyby... the return trip from the dead scar really shows the area as a war zone, with people fighting all over the place...
well, i guess more easy money is never bad thing...

Yeah, I thought it seemed easier. This new run is cool but my favorite will always be the run on the forge camps in Blade's Edge. Turn on some Metal and rock out while killing demons....I'm the biggest nerd ever.

I love that quest. Something fun about zooming in on a nether ray and bombing things while explosions go off all around you and you are dodging like crazy.
I got to the point with the normal flier that it was rare to drop me. Fun to have people killing demons below you in your party and asking how on earth you were avoiding that much flak.
This one is fun, and cool. But the lack of control makes it less fun than the BE or Skettis ones. The Skettis is not fun because those birds are just a pain.

Bah!
It was easy before. Was able to complete quest in 1-2 runs.

1st few tries are always the hardest. Cause you have to figure out what you're nuking. The next few days however became easier. Easily do-able without the nerf if you created a macro for the arcane charges (CD on arcane charges is like 1/2 a second).
Natashya Apr 2nd 2008 9:41AM
First few tries are always hard since we have to find out where we're trying to nuke. However, it's possible to make the run easier by creating a macro (/cast arcane charges) and spam that. Your run will be much easier with the cooldown of the spell at 1/2 a second.
Eliah Hecht Apr 2nd 2008 9:41AM
You can also just drag the Arcane Charges to an action button.
wevans Apr 2nd 2008 9:46AM
but making a macro is l33t
Lars Apr 2nd 2008 7:50PM
Plus you can make one macro to encompass all of your daily quest items then you just have one button that works for every quest!
/cast arcane charges
/cast fel siphon
/cast mana remnants
/cast ... etc.

is there a way to rotate the camera with the keyboard while on a taxi mount like this? i can't rotate and aim at the same time.
NeSuKuN Apr 2nd 2008 9:49AM
I don't know, I've just learned to be quicker each time with the BEM and Haala quests so when first did this I did it without any problem xD
Dah Apr 2nd 2008 10:08AM
Yea, I noticed that this morning when I got the run in one shot only 2/3rds of the flight through. Very welcome change.
Steve_S Apr 2nd 2008 10:15AM
I don't think it's the diffuclty its just the number of people doing it for me so I would have been fine if they just made more of the mobs or took you around for another pass.

ive been having troubles in the staging area the last few days. i get the daily quests, but it wont give me credit for doing things. for example, the quest to charge the sentrys...ill kill one, then use the battery, and it will do its usual charge up, but it doesnt give me credit for doing it. Ive emptied my WTF folder, rebooted, abandoned the quest and tried again, and turned off my addons..none of them seemed to help. anyone else ran into this?
jared Apr 2nd 2008 12:06PM
Did ya happen to be in a raid while doing them?
