Around Azeroth: All hail the owl god
Baldasarre of Mal'ganis writes us with this story: "This is a screenshot I took while vigorously scouring the floor of Terrokar Forrest in search of herbs for the elusive Nether Residue Herbalism daily quest. I flew over this little pond and noticed something I had never seen before. With no indication of it's purpose, I thought it odd that there would be a statue of an owl atop what appears either a perch, or some type of roof. I have never seen anything like this statue before in the game, nor do I know anything about its meaning/purpose/story."
As much as I'd like to suggest that this is part of a secret Bohemian Grove ritual of the arakkoa, a quick search revealed that the three separate bird statues in Terokkar are part of the druid epic flight form quest chain. This one appears to be a falcon. However, the best explaination comes from Allyeranth of Black Dragonflight, who writes, "I hear that if you play the Song of Wind in front of them, they'll offer you transportation to other parts of Draenor."
Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see it on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. We prefer full screen shots without the UI showing. And please, no more sunsets. There is nothing less unusual than the rotation of the planet.

You will be transported only if you play it with an ocarina, duh. And you have to have a lot of courage, or . . . uh . . . something like that.

Aren't these statues all over in the Curator's room in Kara as well?
Sonvar Apr 3rd 2008 10:38AM
Yeah I was about to comment that. I'm pretty sure its the same statue. Not sure what they represent though outside of you know an owl.

Mad, mad points to Allyeranth and Mitch for the Zelda reference(s).

It's one of the guardian statues for the swift flight form questline.

They are a pain in the butt.
Even a T4 equipped bear has issues with that quest if you aren't on the ball.
But afterwords you have the ability to summon Anzu. Getting http://www.wowhead.com/?item=32768 would make it the swift flight form just icing on the cake.
Although that flight form is gorgeous.

Staring at my wife's one makes me want to reroll sometimes.

I also enjoy my wife's "flight form" - but it has nothing to do with World of Warcraft...

Daimon Apr 3rd 2008 12:04PM
It's one of the three fight you need to win in the epic druid form quest line, the 3 are a falcon, a hawk and an eagle. idk why the image is an owl. In each un must fight using diferent forms, or is going to be rly hard (bear, cat and moonkin). Is a rly fun quest line, one more time it shows blizzard's affinity with druids.

No.

One of them is on a little floating island south of Auchindoun, which I didn't even know existed until the quest sent me there. Feel free to check the place out. It has high level... Donkeybirds. Well, whatever those things are that chill out in the Tauren starting area.
