Addon Spotlight: ChatSettingsFix (Patch 2.4)
In this installment of Addon Spotlight, I wanted to give you all a chance to alleviate the irritation that came with Patch 2.4 and the changes to the chat log. Notorious addon developer Tekkub has put together a quick fix to force the chat frame to apply filters at login. This will also apply to ChatFrame2, your combat log. Blizzard tried unsuccessfully to fix the problems with the chat log in Patch 2.4.1, so until they work out the problems, this addon can be your solution. Here is Tekkub's write-up:
'Patch 2.4 introduced a bug where ChatFrame1 does not apply channel filters on login. This addon forces them to be applied. It will check your game version and build and not run after patch 2.4.1 build 8125. If the bug is not fixed in the next patch, a new version will be released."
A man of few words, but an active member of the WoW addon community nonetheless. He has his own site, as well as a collection on WoWInterface.com. I'm new to Tekkub's addons which are either aptly named or named with a unique, and borderline naughty, convention. However, this dev has been very proactive about his addons and responds quickly to changes in the game. Check out this addon if you've been struggling with the chat log and combat log changes since Patch 2.4. While you're at it, test drive some of Tekkub's other gadgets and let me know how they're treating you, as I'm in the process myself and would love to hear your opinion as well. Dismissed!

Next time you write about an addon, try to link the actual download. Or at least the official addon info page.

If you were to click either the "Read" link at the bottom or the term "a quick fix" in the body of the text, you'll be directed to the download page. Thanks for playing and come back next time.

What does the picture of the ferret have to do with this article, if anything?

I have no idea... it's cute, but if they knew me better they would have used a bear...

Hey, does anyone know how to filter out the text when someone within range of you creates something?
"Player creates Netherweave bandage"
"Player creates Netherweave bandage"
"Player creates Netherweave bandage"
"Player creates Netherweave bandage"
"Player creates Netherweave bandage"
"Player creates Fel Iron bar"
"Player creates Netherweave bandage"
...and so on. No matter how I set things, the next time someone creates something it shows in my chat log/combat log.
Slayblaze Apr 4th 2008 6:30PM
nvm, I got it. Its the Tradeskills filter

For those interested... I push updates out to WoWI on the weekends, usually fridays. I don't push out patch-day updates unless the patch breaks an addon, and I don't push TOC-only updates out after patches.
If you're interested in my alpha addons, you can dig them up at http://git.tekkub.net or http://github.com/tekkub/ Once an addon reaches a stable point I try to release a beta to WoWI. All addons on WoWI will get an update if they changed in the last week (not including TOC updates).
Oh, and if there's an addon without a description listed on www.tekkub.net just holler and I'll write one up. They don't always make it there when they're alpha, since I have so damn many to keep up with.

You want a bear? You got it. Done. =)

Thanks a ton for this, Tekkub. (I actually had someone try to tell me the filter bug was intended by Blizz, and they totally said so lolz!) You're a saviour.
