So you write the mage column, but have no spell hit rating? Ok? I'm confused.

Quite apparent mr. Belt is a PvPer. No serious raiding guild (read: BT and beyond) would ever accept a mage with a mere 53 spell hit rating. That's a clear gimp in DPS of any spellcasting class.

I dunno if you've noticed, but this is a very "casual" (~10-20 hours a week) websiteThe elitist jerks theorycrafting forum is that way ->

Link me to the disclaimer that says this is a casual WoW website.WoWinsider is for everyone. Raiders, casuals, PvPers, soloers, multiboxers, etc etc. There's even columns for the raiders - Raid Rx and Ready Check.A column for mages should encompass all the different types of mages in the game. And that includes raiders.Heck, even in Kara you still need to reach your hit cap. If you're not you're gimping your DPS.

Balasan, I wouldn't take a mage with 53 hit to Karazhan. Running a mage with 53 hit demonstrates blatant ignorance of one's own class mechanics.

Don't mean to be rude towards the writers of the Arcane Brilliance article tend to be found....lacking. Casual as it may or may not be, these are the main rules that should take priority for any mage that wants to raid:Spell hit (until capped) > haste > dmg > critHit cap for fire with 3 points in elemental precision = 164Hit cap for frost with 3 points in elemental precision = 126(frostbolts get extra undocumented spell hit from the talent)

I would not take a mage with 53 spell hit into a heroic (unless he was an arcane mage with an extra gear piece in his bag to get him to 64).

WoW Insider has a wide mix of player types - just like WoW. There are those on staff that have had MH/BT cleared since August, and those that have yet to set foot into Kara. And everyone gets along quite nicely too. =)

I'll try to set up a bit of a trap here Aigarius - but how much hit rating do you want a Mage to have before you'll do a Heroic with them?
