The gear you'll never delete

We all have pieces of gear that we don't want to do away with. For me, it's mainly my Quel'Serrar sword – thousands of gold spent on it pre-bc makes it (adjusted for inflation) the most expensive item I've ever purchased. I'm never going to be getting rid of it.
I know that others have the same sentiments. For instance pictured above is the hat of one of my good friends in game. She's had those moose antlers for about 2 ½ years from Onyxia. I know that she'll never get rid of them, and if she did... well, our guild would probably have to gdisband.
There's something nostalgic about keeping around old gear. It provides a memory of "the good old days" when hitting 60 actually meant something. Those old pieces of gear meant that you had accomplished something epic when epics weren't free. Our old epic pieces of gear are a testament to a time when the game was still new and the wilds of Azeroth were really wild.
I might be waxing a bit too philosophical here, but for some reason I still like to look at old screenshots of my characters and muse about the times we had. A piece or two of the gear only brings back those memories, and only good things. And that gear will never be going away.
What pieces of gear are you keeping around forever and ever?

When I posed for this I really had no idea that it would end up here, but then again, I DO know Sully and really should have known better!
Yes, I will always keep my Stormrage Cover, I was lucky enough to get it on my very first Ony run, and it was my first epic item. Many, many great memories go with it. I will also always keep my other Stormrage pieces and I kept my Cenarion Vestments.
I'm also a non-combat pet addict, fortunately, I'm able to spread those out among my alts. I also enjoy the party clothes - I'm wearing my "lovely purple dress" in the screenie. It's fun to put on something different for guild fun events.
So, I guess I have to say, "Thanks, Sully, for the trip down memory lane."

There is one more item I'll never delete... a blue level 25 ring, "The Queen's Jewel". It was the very first blue item I ever owned and it was a gift to me from a very good friend in game. I was completely in awe when it was given to me. I think I wore it from 25 to close to 60. It was a sad day when I finally had to replace it.

I'll never get rid of the tnaking shield from Hakkar. It was my first epic shield and won it over 3 other warriors. Felt really good showing it off to friends. That and Gorehowl for it's lore.
OH! And A few items from my current tnak set that I don't think I could part with very easily just because of how lucky I was to get them.

The correct term is moose antlers, not ears
Nacole Apr 6th 2008 3:03AM
So what did you think about the rest of the article?

My Finkle's Lava Dredger as part of my old FR set is one I just can't get rid of.

I'm with you on the Quel'serrar, though I had the book drop in DM for me without having any idea what it did. Took me several months to join an actual raiding guild and be present for an Ony kill to get it.
I also still have my Ashkandi. It was one of those items I'd been saving my DKP for all through BWL, always making sure I was above anyone else who would be interested in it before purchasing some other item. It still resides in my bank, in part for the sheer audacity of its size

I'll never get rid of my Sul'thraze. My first epic. :)

That was the day I got it, I had to turn my helm animation off because I was still using Shadowcraft.

I only have the binding from the baron. (We had 4 baron bindings drop, none from garr) I hang on to it, hoping that someday i might get a lvl 70 raid into MC and a miraculous Garr drop. :)
One of my guildies still has his sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros in the bank.

Linken's Sword of Mastery and Linken's Boomerang....
Because honestly--who deletes Zelda gear? :P
Arilyyn Apr 5th 2008 9:01PM
I still have my felstriker. I got it on my very first UBRS run. I used it for more than a year til BC came out. I love that thing.
Lesleykajira Apr 6th 2008 9:31AM
i....i had to make a choice, see? It was, well, neccesary to have that one slot. i can't just ... for something i don't even use anymore?
So i threw my boomerang. And it didn't come back.
....keeping the sword, okay?

I still have my moose antlers and my skirt. I don't think I could ever bring myself to get rid of them :D!

I still have my full set of Soulforge, good old dungeon set two. I was the first person on my server to fully upgrade their dungeon set.
It represented a ton of money and hard work, and those amazingly fun 45 min strat runs that my group kept running long after we all had our sets.
In addition, I have every piece of Judgment, Tier 2, that I ever got. Not only is it still the best looking Paladin set, I believe that it is the best looking set in the game.
