I'm not really sure why everyone seems to think that things should be 100% even or fair. When you start the game you've got to decide Alliance or Horde and trade off their pros and cons. You've got to choose a race and a class, taking a look at all of the things associated with those two choices. People have to choose which factions they're siding with and such.
In real life you can't just change sides just because the other guys got something that you like more. Why should you be able to do that with a flip of the switch in WoW when many other things are pretty permanent. Honestly, I think that when you make a decision it should have repercussions on your character.

Yeah, this isn't real life. It's a game, and Blizzard should be doing what they can to make things as fair as possible. It's called "balancing" and they do it constantly to every class in the game, every new dungeon, every new item. The problem with this situation is that the Aldor pendants are far superior for every single application: tanking, spell damage, healing, and melee damage.

So what you're saying is that it's ok for Alliance or Horde to have a distinct advantage over the other? The problem is that the decision for most people isn't Scryer or Aldor, it's Loot A or Loot B. Now after we've decided, based on the loot, which is superior for our class and suddenly it doesn't matter. You're either screwed or imba, and you had no choice in the matter.

yeah, but what you're forgetting is that when you decide to roll alliance/horde or you decide to go scryers/aldor, the costs/benefits are already known. The SSO ties to either scryer or aldor rep takes the 'informed' aspect completely away from the player. when i rolled aldor on my main, i knew exactly why. The same goes for my scryer affiliated alt. What is unacceptable is to suddenly make a completely different faction (SSO) bound by the earlier faction affiliation that was chosen. it simply punishes one group over the other because the player never had the forewarning from blizz so that he/she could make their aldor/scryer choice with all available info. it's pretty foolish in light of all of blizz's attempts to "balance" the game for everyone.
