Come on, do people seriously expect Blizzard not to change the playing field after you've made a choice that's hard to reverse? How many times have you made a choice, only to find out later when new content arrives or changes are made that you'd have chosen differently if you'd known?
It's the nature of a non-static game, and it's not going to stop.
So you're Scryer - presumably you chose Scryer over Aldor for a good reason. So the Scryer neck sucks? Well, that's a shame, but it's not like the Shattered Sun suddenly stole your old neck and are /forcing/ you to wear this one - you can still wear your old neck, or pick up a new neckpiece some other way. And if you really, really, really want the Aldor neck that much, then the conversion quest isn't /that/ much farming - I know, because I've done it (the other way, from Aldor to Scryers).
It's like spending hundreds or thousands of gold maxing your tradeskills, and then Blizz gives a recipe for something you really want to another profession. That happens all the time; them's the breaks! You can always change your path, if you're willing to make the effort; if not, you just have to accept that many choices in this game are going to look a lot different with a year's worth of hindsight behind them.
