Around Azeroth: Not without my elekk
Back in the day when Hannibal crossed the Alps, he used armored north African elephants (now extinct) to frighten and trample his opponents. However, the elephants were easily frightened, and often trampled their own forces when shot with enough arrows.
The two European-history-loving paramedics sitting in the room with me right now can't think of any Hannibal-related puns for this screenshot, so I'll just note that it takes a lot for an elekk to not flee from a huge dinosaur -- especially when there's a draenei shaman fighting on its back. Grilox of Kilrogg, who sent us this picture, wrote that he was questing in Blade's Edge with his roommate Arigato when Arigato bugged on Grilox's screen and started to fight on an elephant. Arigato's own screen, however, did not replicate the bug.
Do you have any unusual World of Warcraft images that are just collecting dust in your screenshots folder? We'd love to see it on Around Azeroth! Sharing your screenshot is as simple as e-mailing aroundazeroth@wow.com with a copy of your shot and a brief explanation of the scene. You could be featured here next!
Remember to include your player name, server and/or guild if you want it mentioned. We prefer full screen shots without the UI showing. And please, no more sunsets. This isn't a sunset shot, it's a picture of something else that just happens to be happening at sundown.

Cool bug.. Had this happen with a mage friend. It was cool to watch him pryoblast from his flying mount!

I have always said that we should be able to use *limited* attacks on mounts, perhaps just epics... think of the BG chaos!
Great screen shot!!!

I agree - I think that it makes perfect that I could cast spells while I'm mounted.

/agree we SOOOOO should be able to attack while mounted. AND mounts should have their own special attacks to use.

I've seen this happening a couple times since 2.4 dropped. I have a screenshot of my friend riding a gryphon around Westfall. Aside from looking like he had a flying mount in Azeroth, he was also level 23 at the time.
Just this past weekend the same thing happened where he saw me riding a hippogryph around Ashenvale at 29. We didn't screenshot that one, though.

I had this happen a couple years ago. A friend (pally) and I (mage) were questing in the Burning Steppes when he bugged on my screen. I have some great screenshots of him fighting cavalry-style from his mount against some dragonkin. He said it looked like he dismounted and was fighting normally on his screen.

I hated the new mounts so much (both elekks and hawkstriders) that I forced my Draenai shaman to grind IF rep instead and bought a Ram instead at lvl 41. And an epic Ram at lvl 60. No elekks for me, no way.

I did the same with my BE. I ground UC rep for my undead horse... A boney, smelly dead horse is better than some techno-colour LSD bird.
Besides, now I can beat a dead horse...

i'll take your elekk. i've been grinding and grinding just to gain enough rep for one. something about riding a giant pink (well, ok, PURPLE) elephant around just really appeals to me. i have 2340 more rep points to go, and i think i've run out of options until i hit outland, unless i want to farm repeatedly for runecloth to turn in over and over.

Finally, proof! I wasn't hallucinating when I saw that Blood Elf Hunter shooting tigers from atop his hawkstrider in STV.
You have no idea how jealous I was when I saw that...
