Breakfast Topic: Most hated daily quests

Now that the cap has been raised to twenty-five, and a slew of dailies has been added as of patch 2.4, many players are finding themselves spending a few hours on daily quests each day. Personally, there are a few that I enjoy doing most days, including the bombing runs, and some that I'd rather avoid if I didn't need the gold to fuel my rather Outlandish habits.
I'm not sure if I could pinpoint a single culprit though. The longer quests bother me up front, because I get bored spending half an hour each day mowing through the same exercise. As such, the Shadowmoon Valley quests might be my least favorite, because aside from the competition, they take forever.
Which daily quests are giving you a daily headache, and why?

You can use the Phase Device anywhere in Bash'ir landing. I recommend using it while standing near the top of a giant stone spine, or on the hilltop with the Image of Commander Ameer.

I love this one. The motes of mana drop off the worms is great. I usually get enough of the boxes to get the quest done, and then go around killing worms for another 20 minutes or so. I got 4 Primal Mana this morning.

You can mount up when you're done and come out of phase in the air :)

"Seriously, who ever goes out to Bash'ir Landing for anything other than this? You couldn't possibly be any further away (from Shatt, that is)."
Yeah, not like there's a Sunwell quest in Netherstorm which is even further away than Bash'irs.
Oh, wait...

Hm. I start off with the two in Hellfire Peninsula, fly across to Netherstorm to pick up the Sunfury Plans, then hop across to BEM to do the mana cell quest. Then down to Nagrand to do to ... whatever it is, the fire things. And mining the whole time for the residue quest.

Arm the Wards or Making Ready... I don't like grinding too much for a daily quest...
peaglemancer Apr 9th 2008 9:45AM
In consideration of actual long grinding quests like "a slow death", you've picked two that aren't long or hard at all.

Definitely wrangling Aether Rays......I can't see when they are attached to the ropes if anything aggros me or if I am getting too close to something...frustrating! Make them go behind the player, not in their immediate field of vision.

The Netherwing quests, especially the early ones, are a pain. "A Slow Death" and "The Unfriendly Skies" are particularly nasty -- bad drop rates, buggy. The Crystal quest was one that I would do over several days as the crystals filled my bags; while the mining/herbing quests had outside rewards (motes and fel lotus) that made completing them every day well worth the exercise.
innajunglestylee Apr 9th 2008 8:48AM
Oh and the pre-nerf Ravager quest. F that quest in the eye.
Milktub Apr 9th 2008 9:13AM
Yup. I'll do any daily. But before 2.4, I skipped that. I wasn't going to spend three hours in a mine shaft while hunters tagged every ravager as they spawned.

The Ogri'la "Bomb them Again" daily. This one is near impossible with a slow flyer.
The Shattered Sun "The Air Strikes Must Continue", so many people are doing the quest that there is nothing to bomb and you are right on top of another player if you don't time your departure just right.
The Shattered Sun "Gaining the Advantage", but only for miners. The competition for Ore Nodes combined with the pathetic drop rate for the residue means this is more like a two or three day quest.

Gaining the advantage sucks for Herbalists as well. I skip that one with my Herb/Alc toon, but love it for my skin/herb main. Skinning is where it's at for that daily.
nikP Apr 9th 2008 9:13AM
nah...im still slow flight and Bomb Them Again is easy. Just get directly above the target and high enough youre out of the flak cannon range. Then dive straight down on it with your bomb ready to go. The instant your cursor turns blue, or youre in range, drop it and immediately head STRAIGHT UP until youre out of range of the cannons again. Ill occasionally get hit on the way down, but the flak cannons cant seem to handle heading straight up and shoot harmlessly below you. Repeat 14 times lol

Gaining the Advantage is easier for Skinners. I have found the cats and gators have an incredible drop rate (30-50%) in the Eco-Dome in Netherstorm...you are in the area for the Sunfury Attack Plans anyway. Or you can combine it with the mana berry cooking quest.
Also the Helboars in Hellfire have about a 25-40% drop rate and they are way easier to kill.

this one is pretty easy with rare flying mount, just bind a key to your mount and another to the b0mb, cast mount, target while casting, bomb, dismount while flying in any direction. I haven't been hit since I discovered this.

'The Shattered Sun "Gaining the Advantage", but only for miners. The competition for Ore Nodes combined with the pathetic drop rate for the residue means this is more like a two or three day quest.'
I second that. I generally have this quest in my queue for 3-4 days at a time. When I head out to Nagrand for the other daily I'll check my nods, but other than that I just let it sit till I find enough while doing other things.
DrDiesel Apr 9th 2008 9:52AM
With a standard flyer it's all about the timing. I did these quests up to Exhaulted with a slow flyer. the trick is to stand in front of the target, hit your keybind for your mount, hit your keybind for your bomb and drop it then dismount right away.
Takes a bit longer having to mount/dismount all the time but about 90% of the time you'll not get targeted or at least you can run away quick enough to not get hit.
Jaisin Apr 9th 2008 11:06AM
Gaining the advantage is a sweet quest, just don't try and do it on the isle. Go about your business in the nearly deserted Blades Edge Mountains or Nagrand!
But is all seriousness, 2 days after the new dailies started, I had enough gold for my epic flyer and I haven't done a single daily since.
Mining ftw.
