Reigniting the flame and rediscovering the joy of Warcraft
I think my favorite part about a new patch is that it always seems to inject new life into WoW. Don't get me wrong, I love WoW all the time. I think it's a great game. But there's something about a new patch that always seems to invigorate me. There's new stuff to do, maybe a new twist or two to one of the classes I play, or at least to one of the classes I play against. What's even more interesting to me is that it sometimes makes even the old stuff feel brand new.Take daily quests, for example. Before 2.4, I'd more or less retired from dailies. I had 2 characters exalted with the Netherwing, Ogri'la, and the Skyguard. My Hunter was only about friendly with Ogri'la and the Sha'tari Skyguard when I threw up my hands and just quit. I just got way too fed up with doing the same stuff over and over again, getting knocked out the air by cannonballs and annoying birds, rescuing the same ungrateful prisoner, putting up with Khatie's shameless flirting, and all that. So, I quit. I paid more attention to my sub-70 characters, leveled a Blood Elf Paladin to level 59 (only to find that the bracket is dead for PvP on my battlegroup, alas), did dungeon runs, ground some Consortium and Kurenai reputation, and all that good stuff.
Then 2.4 came along. It's really been a new lease on daily life for me. There's a lot of fun new dailies to tackle, sure, but even as I flew my Hunter up to Blade's Edge Mountains the other day to collect Smuggled Mana Cells, I stopped, looked at my map, shrugged, and took a left turn. Soon I found myself interacting with monoliths, dive bombing cannonball stacks, and lassoing Aether Rays like I was a good old fashioned cowgirl - and enjoying every minute of it!
I'm not sure quite why it is that I can stand these dailies again. Maybe it's just absence making the heart grow fonder. Whatever the reason, I think I may just have to get a 3rd character to exalted with the Skyguard and Ogri'la, if only because I so love hearing the Skyguard worship me when I walk through their camps. There is a limit though. I am not going back to Skettis for dailies, no way, no how. Stupid Kaliri can rot in the nether. I'm not cooking any Kaliri Stew either.
What about you? Has a new patch or something else reignited your passion for an aspect of the game you'd previously dropped?

I'll cook those birds every time that daily pops up. Eff those birds, man. They belong in the belly.

HAHA!!!
I am doing every daily i can just to get enough for epic flying (which anyone can feasibly get now, just an hour or two a day, will get you there in no time). I like it when the Kalari stew is daily, because I am sure I will kill at least 2 or 3 while in Skettis.

I agree that patches revitalize content. What does it for me though is changes that affect everyone. What i love about 2.4 is the BG changes. Instant honor feels so much more rewarding. I've also made full use of the mark turnin as i had about 80 of each mark saved up at one time. I took a lvl70 character and got him 323 resilience in 2 weeks after levelling him to 70 with all these changes (plus the new pvp rep sets in 2.4 like the "opportunist's" rogue set they added).

I dropped the Kaliri stew quest the minute 2.4 hit. While I will go back to Ogri'la eventually, because the mana pots are pretty cheap, I'm not going to go anywhere near those so-called birds.

This is a throw back to the old 2.3 content. I just signed back up and rerolled to a new server, and the leveling improvements really made a difference. I've leveled a few characters to 60+ and this time is completely different and refreshing.

Please tell me you meant "brought" not "bought a Blood Elf Paladin."

hahaha...i was just thinking the same thing, but i assume the WoW Insider team has a little more tact than that

I assure you, I meant that I levelled it up myself. I'm pretty strongly against buying gold, items, or characters.

If you can't find joy in the "Crystal Emanation" quest, you have no soul. It's Simon! I usually stand there clicking until I lose the game, even after the quest part of it is over. I love Simon.
And no more bird complaints. I'm exalted. Never been knocked off by a bird. I never fight them. I let them hit me while I go about my run.

My wife is the same. She's Protection spec and the birds don't bother her at all.
I'm holy and instantly get knocked off my flying mount!

New content doesn't do much for me. I went to Outland the second or third day with my human lock when UPS brought my TBC and it was too crowded. So I started up some hoardies and played them for about a month before going back to Outland.
I went to QQ the day it was available and my frame rate immediately dropped to 2, so that was that for a few days.
So having to wait till the crowds thin out dampens my excitement about new content.

"I paid more attention to my sub-70 characters, bought a Blood Elf Paladin to level 59"
You paid for character leveling services and are actually flaunting it?

Fishing... Love the new fishing quests. Finally a reason to fish! I had spent far too long skilling up to 275 and now I've a reason to just finish it up. I'm already at 315 and thats just from fishing for baby Croc's and Fel fishes..

Gotta love druid flight form, I'm immune to those Kaliri birds dismounting.
I actually love the dailys and that we can do 25 a day now. I'm usually going in the following order - I start from Shat,I pick all dailys I can from there, que up for daily BG and fly to Nagrand to measure those fireballs. Unless its AV daily (cause that one has instant que), I usually get the BG que by the time I've started measuring , so I finish it up real quick and enter the BG. Horde usually wins every time, so I rarely have to reque there. I turn in the measurements and fly to BEM. I'm exalted with Ogri'la and Skyguards, but since I fly to BEM for Mana Cells anyway, I always stop at ogrila for banishing demons (to get Darkrune), bombing and rays quests are just far too easy to pass since I'm there already, so I'm doing them too.
Cooking quest fits into that route too (it depends what I need to get).
Then I collect the Mana Cells, fly to Nehterstorm, get attack plans, fly straight to Hellfire and do those dailys too, then return to Shat again and turn plans and cells in.
Then I port to new island and do the dailys there.
By that time I'm pretty full of doing dailys and also about 150g richer.
I stopped going to Netherwing tho. I'm still revered with them, but the dailys in there take longer than others and I'm not into having Netherdrake anyway. I mostly fly in swift flight (thanks to instant cast) and when I want to mount something, I have my handy epic roflcopter.

I'd go back. You'd be surprised by how much faster they are now. Ravagers in the mines almost outnumber flayers...
That and no one is there. No competition over ore carts, herbs and mine nodes, peons, or eggs.
