I think it's pretty handy that it has that graphic, so that when you find yourself getting totally owned by a hunter you'll think "oh, I see that cool light effect, it's that epic bow that he's owning my face with."

fwiw, the bow is Legendary, not Epic. That's kind of the whole point of this article.
