Breakfast Topic: What are you doing with all that gold?
So, now that the Daily quest limit is up to 25 and we have a whole ton of new quests to do courtesy of the Sunwell dailies, a lot of us are starting to build up quite a large bankroll. In addition to the monetary rewards, we're getting tons of green items (that disenchant into very lucrative things such as Greater Planar Essences and Large Prismatic Shards), a good selection of Sunfury Signets and tons of Arcane Tomes from all the Blood Elves we're fighting. All those green gems I've hoarded over the months are finally paying off for me, since my Jewelcrafting mule is able to turn them into Brilliant Glass, and I've even had a blue recipe or two drop that's sold for a pretty penny. As a result, I've jumped up from about 1000 gold between all my characters to about 6000 gold between them now, and no sign of the cash flow stopping. The problem comes when I try to figure out what to do with it all. 2 of my 3 70s already have epic flight, and I'm considering buying it for the third as well, but I'm sitting on the gold for a few days to make sure I don't make an impulse purchase. In addition, I'll probably be feeding a few thousand to the statue building fund in order to get a nice new title.
Then again, I'm not sure if "Of the Shattered Sun" really suits me as a title, so I may just pass and save the gold. After all, if I save up a good amount of gold for Wrath of the Lich King, I'll be able to get my Death Knight off to a really nice start and have enough to buy some of the new level 68-70 greens that ought to be rolling out of the first few zones.
Have you started building a massive war chest since 2.4? If so, what are your plans for all that gold?

I would mean they'll have to come up with some kind of new coin in WoTLK, with this new huge amount of gold people are getting.

I have 5 characters with all interesting professions so that sort of daily quest run to make gold is not of interest here, I can do 500 - 1000 gold in a day easly without farming one trash hehe. You will have much profit loosing your time leveling several chars than loosing your time on daily quest runs that are very very boring :x

I just like looking at my total grow. Don't really want to spend it on anything.

I think I will probably end up saving most of it for Lich King.

I don't have more money.
I didn't manage to make all 10 dailies before the update and I will not be able to do more dailies now. So for me nothing has changed as my time is still limited.
lehtinen Apr 13th 2008 6:19PM
Well 10 dailies before 2.4 took 3 to 4 hours. 10 dailies since 2.4 take 45 mins or so.....get em done!
Mukan Apr 13th 2008 6:50PM
As I said: I never did 10 dailies. I maybe made 3 or 4 - but never daily. I did a total of 10 - 15 dailies per week and that didn't change much and will probably not change much as I don't feel like doing the very same boring stuff each and every day.

2600g at the moment, and I'm saving up for my epic flyer. And considering I had 500g last Saturday, with no hope of making 5kg, I fucking love these new dailies ;D
Kaylek Apr 14th 2008 10:06AM
Fuck yeah bitches and garden hoes.

Most of it goes for repair bills, consumables and for my priesty alt who is giong to do tailoring and enchanting and needs her whitmen and primal mooncloth sets.
But for the rest I'm going to save a huge chunk of it, since I'm pretty sure that blizz will figure out some new expensive thing for people to buy in WOLK. Maybe you have to pay 1000g for the privilidge of using your flying mount/flight form in Northrend or something equally dumb. I ersonally have no desire for the 1000g title since I spent plenty of time doing the heroics and mags kill needed to be a "champion of the nerds."

Not sure...
What I am thinking about more, is what will the gold situation be like in WotLK? The main reason I think this, is due to all these dailies we have now. We all know an epic mount ain't "a lot" now, with the new dailies, 250g per day, per character, is EASY. but this is probably due to blizzard letting us all get tons of gold for epic mounts, epic crafted items, etc, as TBC slows down before WotLK.
But what happens AFTER WotLK is released? Two possibilities - we all think back and laugh at the 10G daily quest rewards, when our Lvl.80 dailies give 40g each. OR blizzard removes all the 70 dailies, and makes lvl.80 dailies harder for the extra 10 levels, but with the same rewards as we get now....
Call me a WoW-nerd, but I am more interested in this kind of thing, rather than the epic lore which surrounds the next expansion...
Bergmal Apr 13th 2008 11:36AM
My question is this - with WOTLK out, would you want to do these dailies? I mean, I'm going to be focused on the new content - The Isle will be DEAD when the expansion appears.
Then they'll have a new set of dailies to do at 80. Who knows? They said stuff is going to cost A LOT in Northrend...
Darkharmony Apr 13th 2008 11:58AM
The thing you have to remember is once the level cap gets raised we won't get all that gold each day til we hit 80. Don't we get that now because the experience is converted to gold? The reason I bring this up is because some of the quests say something like 4g 40s (+7g 59s at level 70).

i'm saving up just a bit for Wrath... my strategy is thus:
- no flyers in (early?) Wrath means alts don't need epic flying for a while. normal flyers for alts.
- one of my chars is going balls-out-stay-home-from-work-hardcore leveling; he's gonna need gold to powerlevel his profs and etc. he gets about 10k gold to start Wrath with.
