Aaaand... now they're working again.

The rendering on that was really impressive - can't wait to see more from Macky

I'm tempted to do something like this myself as soon as this freelance gig is over (or I get fired for spending 7 hours of an 8 hour shift researching and reading about WoW).
ZOMG PORN. I mean. Who am I kidding, porn for me... something family friendly for the rest of ya.

And now that I've seen it, the animation was good. But the render seems a bit over-exposed. Hopefully there's a way to tone that down without a re-render (OpenEXR? Did you? ATTA BOY!)
May be easier to use in-game backgrounds, with custom-animated foreground characters. Match the in-game renderer rather than using basic 3D-app lighting and shadows.. because honestly unless you wanna start doing up some normal/bump and specular maps, the WoW models are just too low poly to pull it off.
If your machine can do a decent FPS cap of Wow Map Viewer, you could even motion track the backgrounds, making it super easy to add stuff.
Anyway. I'm getting all fired up to do one of these myself. Thanks for the inspiration!

This is actually sorta kinda really old, so I'm hoping we'll actually see more of this soon :\ Got all excited when I first saw it, then never heard a damn thing about it until now.

Technically, that was a place-kick, not a punt.

Either way it should be an in-game option PvP or not...

Blackhorn where do you work (city etc)?
No reason to render in HDRI bit of overkill imo .. plenty of things can be done with layers and comps etc for something like this ...
