I'm no priest, but overlapping/overhealing becomes necessary at certain encounters such as the warlock tank on Leotheras. IMO the cost doesn't matter as long as it keeps the tank alive. Yes, I'm am aware of mana conservation for long fights. As for trusting other healers, I can't do that because I know they may be thinking the same thing. I know I run with some great people, but you also have to remember that you don't know what they're thinking or focusing on every second of the fight. I've seen plenty of times where someone dies because the healers were focusing on another player and didn't bother. For me, its just better to take the initiative. However, I play a resto druid with insane mana regen so mana is never an issue for me.

I disagree. I am a resto druid, and trying to do everything will over extend you, cause your lifebloom stacks to bloom and need refreshing, and so on. Resto druids actually need to rely on other healers to do their job MORE than other healers, because we have a steady rotation that, if we break in a panic, needs to be set up again. And in that time, the tank is suddenly taking more damage without that steady mitigation, turning your panic-recovery into another panic.
Nice to see your first post is such a great one, Matticus :D

I too raid as a resto druid and disagree. There are fights, like Archimonde where at times you are completely taken out of the fight because your #1 job is running away from fire or staying out of a fear. You HAVE to trust the other healers in your raid group to have fights like this go successfully.
Yes, mana regen is not an issue, but as you progress farther in content so is simply staying alive and alot of the time that means running away from people that need heals. You just have to trust that the other healers will get to that person and keep running away, rather then running back in.
