WoW Moviewatch: Open Wounds
However, first timers that extensively use Model Viewer will eventually learn to fear the wrath of TotalBiscuit's comments. Experimenting with those tools without mastering the basic level of video, which is in-game footage, is almost always a recipe for disaster. As evidenced in many of the scenes, he was unable to successfully transition the character from one moment to the next. With some more practice, he might create something really great!

Loved the music. Skillet is one of my favorite bands from way, way back.
Many of the transition effects were well-used and well-placed; the "scratched film" effects in several places really seemed to capture the feeling of the protagonist's unpleasant memories.
I liked the "sweeping vistas" and the inclusion of some additional characters. The scenery was almost always a nice choice (save for the random "bow-hunting in Darnassus" clip, which wasn't a problem with the scenery so much as it was a "WTF?" moment from the random close-up of the character).
However, I felt in many places that the character's actions didn't seem to fit the lyrics or the mood of the song. I also found the sequence during the repeating chorus a little, well, repetitive; there could have been a lot more variation in the action, or just a lot more action in general. I found it strange that the part of the song where the bass thumps the hardest and the singer roars the loudest was actually the dullest, most redundant sequence in the video.
Coincidentally, who was the character meant to address when he said "All I ever wanted to be was you?" I could definitely see that happening at Uther's tomb, but then there was some random dude with an axe, a random girl who I can only presume was the protagonist's "ex" ...
Also: WTF? Kids running in circles? What was with that random clip toward the end?
Overall, I thought this was pretty good for a first try, especially with the rockin' soundtrack (though some in-game sounds would have been well-used as well in a few places). However, I'm going to say the exact same thing that TB will say when he gets here (and I'm sure he will, eventually): Model Viewer was overused, and as a result, several sequences really looked far too staged or not nearly as dynamic as they could have looked in an action-packed fantasy setting. It was a little "too choreographed," in a manner of speaking, perhaps a bit too "unnatural."

Heh, I'm not judging the quality of the video. In terms of actual production I think it's quite good. However, the style is...a little to clingy to certain clichés and lacks the originality to bring it above the level of cheesiness for me.

I believe that the music wasn't really suiting for the story that you were trying to show. I think you should really sit down and work on getting the transitions to work in sync with both the scenery and the models. Can i also asked what possessed you to make the what i assume is the main character sing the chorus, it ruined the movie for me in my honest opinion.

Hi there everybody.
I'm the author of this Video and just saw this article about my work on WOWInsider... great, thanks alot for that.
Just a few words to the story, which is sometimes not quite understandable or might be not that clear to understand. First of all: This is my first try in cutting a Video with World-of-Warcraft and it's tools. I noticed the problem, that - if scenes were cut in the modelviever and the mapviewer, getting them together in time is not that easy. I'll learn and try again next time, promised :)
The story... well ok! Just in short sentences.
A Warrior once lived happy with his wife in the forrest near to stormwind city. They were quite happy unless he was forced to fight against a stranger when he wasn't able to defend himself due to lack of armor and weapons.
He died in the fight (you saw that). Before the fighting scene you see this Warrior with an bow exercising some technics. This is were he realizes he's dead and in another world (which looks like the world of the nightelves), and he needs to get back to his loved wife.
Uthar grants him another chance as he kindly asks him and begs for it. He gets this chance, walks home and the display of playing kids talks for itself.
Ok, I know, this is not the best story anyone ever thought about, but mainly I got no script for this movie and tried putting some scenes one after the other, this is what came out ;) The music is what I like best at the moment, lyrics have nothing in common with this story, except the refrain, where he asks his loved wife why she hates him (for fighting and dying in this battle) although he loves her so much (to get it together, this will do ;) )
The next movie - I promise, will be cut together better and will have a more suitable story.
Best wishes to you all, greetings from Germany,
Martin (Antillion / LeoJoyce, EU-Die Ewige Wacht)
