Killing ogres and feeling like a jerk

Anyway, one of the formulas I wanted to go after was the Formula: Enchant Bracer - Spellpower, which drop off the Bloodmaul Geomancers in Blade's Edge Mountains. So off I go to kill these ogres, I figure it'll take maybe an hour of so of farming. Easy, right? Well, what I didn't expect was that these ogres still paid fealty to me after I completed the chain of quests to unlock the quests in Ogri'la. I didn't make much of all the yelling those fatties did when they made me king, but since I didn't bother going around Blade's Edge much after that, I didn't notice that the Bloodmaul had turned yellow, or neutral, towards me. So it took me by surprise that upon killing these ogres, they say mortifying things like, "Me honored, King kill me," or "King <name>, me die now."
Thanks a lot, Blizzard. Now I feel like a total jerk. These ogres consider me (and I'm sure millions of other players... but anyway...) their king and now I'm cutting them down like some maniacal despot. They also reference Ogri'la, which is kind of like paradise to them and a Blizzard reference to the Utopian haven of Shangri-La. It's heart-wrenching when they keel over saying, "King really think... there is... an Ogri'la?" or "Me go to... Ogri'la." It's like having some distant friend with Down Syndrome die in your arms with dreams of shiny, happy places. It's tragic. I know, it's a silly video game, and I'm not even on an RP server. But still, you have to wonder how you can keep killing those who consider you their king. After a while of killing and not getting the formula to drop, I called it a night and took a break. I probably shouldn't feel so bad. After all, if I'm truly their king, why don't they just hand over the stupid formula?

Haha, that's pretty funny though. Do you believe in Ogri'la?
If you do feel bad about this though, just remember, they have wiped innocent people who they are hostile to trying to mount by, probably thousands of times.

I'm with you completely on this one. I used to be farming the area for my enchant, but since I became king I can't do it anymore. Grinding is bad enough, but I don't want to feel like a jerk about it.
My solution would be for the enchant formula to become an Orgri'la reputation reward, or a reward from a quest. Otherwise I'll just have to do without.
Also, it takes a lot more than an hour or two of farming.

Blizz does have a habit of forcing us into some unpleasant choices. I get angry any time there's a quest asking me to kill a wolf or a bear. Usually I decline. It's the price you pay if you want more out of a game than just killing stuff and grabbing loot.

I have kind of a reverse on this one -- Killing bears and wolves is fine, but my undead warrior has a somewhat illogical but highly firm sense of 'innocent', a class of person he won't kill. To this day, he carries the Ring of Scorn with him to remind him of his failure in upholding this code... once.

Bears are giant, marauding, godless killing machines, and they must be stopped by any means necessary.

It just seems like everybody goes to BEM to be a jerk though. I mean look at that gnome in the Skyguard outpost (http://www.wowhead.com/?npc=23335). I feel bad turning those rays over to her every single time because she just won't give up on us hanging out sometime.
My kingdom for a orphan's week like quest where I lead the poor crazy girl around the Darkmoon fair (nothing like lagging Mulgore with a ton of gnome-clones) or something that changes her quest updates so I feel less like a heel.

as a warlock, having the ogres neutral is such a nice benefit. It means I can dot dot dot dot fear dot dot drain as many ogres as I want without worrying about them fear-aggroing other mobs.
I think I got my enchanting formula from these guys in about 20 minutes of going insane and dotting/fearing everything I saw.

"But still, you have to wonder how you can keep killing those who consider you their king."
You get used to it.
Keep up the good work.

That's funny, I just ran into this this weekend. I was doing the quest where the vindicator in the cage asks you to get her sword and shield back... unfortunately the ogres with the quest items are each guarded by 2 elites. I tried to take them out, but my paladin just isn't awesome enough. So I logged into my mage and went there to kill the elites... I realized they were all yellow to me since I've done the Ogri'la prequests. The elites were a bitch, but it was at least possible that way. I logged back into my pally and killed the quest guy alone. Yay for hax!
