The nature of arena is really changing. Originally- the mechanics were such that you had a really challenging fight every time, but rarely one you had no hope of winning. The gear was normalized, and the brackets worked- so you were always fighting similarly geared teams of comparable skill.Now- the rating requirements combine with the practice of point selling to make it so that you frequently fight more skilled players in better gear, who essentially farm you for points.I think Blizzard experimented with ways to put everyone on equal footing in arenas, but has discarded that objective. It's too bad because that was a nice contrast to battlegrounds.
