As I mentioned on
the WoW Insider Show the other day, reader Chad G. sent us a tip about the
Figureprints character he received (probably one of the first shipped figures that we've heard about so far), and as you can see from the pictures, he was a little
underwhelmed by the quality, While the actual process went OK, the figure itself just seems kind of dusty, which hardly counts as
the "vibrant" colors we were promised back when these things were first announced. From across the room, he says, it's hard to make out any colors at all -- the whole thing looks "dusty black."
Chad says he doesn't know if he would buy this thing again, although since he posted the pictures, he says that Figureprints is sending him another figurine, so maybe this was a mistake (there was also apparently a spot of paint missing on the figure's arm, and that seems more like a flaw in the specific figure than the process). Either way, while it's cool to have your character in actual, real 3D form, maybe the Figureprints folks don't quite have all the kinks worked out yet.

Seems he (and others who bought them) got jipped and need to complain to someone!
Hope it all works out!

Looks like total crap. I would drive over where they operate and smash it on the front door. Than poop on it.
Thats just me.
kenney Apr 23rd 2008 1:16PM
wow, that looks A LOT different than what they have in their gallery. I hope it is a manufacturing error, but even if it is- they shouldn't have shipped something that bland
Wildbinx Apr 23rd 2008 1:14PM
that looks horrible lol
Necrotica Apr 23rd 2008 1:12PM
Wow, that looks crappy...
Arras Apr 23rd 2008 1:17PM
heh..now getting those you didn't win emails every month doesn't seem so bad
to those that got them and aren't happy, i hope FigurePrints makes things right for you

It looks like they printed off pictures of the armor on a shitty printer and just glued it to a poorly made doll, i went to their website and i seriously thought it was paper craft shit. I would love to have a kickass figure made but wow i would not pay money for the crap these guys are making, and that makes me sad lol.

That's what all of the pictures in their gallery look like! That seems like the "quality" product they are advertising, so that's what you'll get.
I agree, it does look like armor and such printed on paper, than glued on. In other words, really unclean and unprofessional. It's neither bright, nor vibrant; just disappointing.
Woolwort Apr 23rd 2008 1:17PM
I hope they get that ironed out for you.
Warlock Apr 23rd 2008 1:21PM
Wow that looks awful. At least I can feel better about not wanting to blow $100 on that :P
Treima Apr 23rd 2008 1:23PM
Man, I hope they get this all fixed for you. I'd never heard of this site before, and I think I would totally go for it if I hadn't seen your rather disappointing model.
Keep us posted. I want to see if they'll make it right and awesome like it should be. :)

I've seen photos of other figure prints and they all have that dusty look to them. This isn't the first time someone has complained about the quality.
My advice...don't waste your money.

Has anyone else received their FigurePrintâ„¢ yet? If so, get some pics up for us, and link here! I would really like to know if this is a unique problem, or something everyone is finding when they open their new toys.

Catfight Apr 23rd 2008 2:13PM
No, it's not a unique issue. I've seen about half a dozen of these and they all look that bad as far as the dusty/foggy quality goes.
Treima Apr 23rd 2008 1:29PM
"Figureprints dont do figureprints like u did!!!"
Raaj Apr 23rd 2008 2:39PM
Well played!

I won one of the earliest lotteries on FigurePrints. The first one they shipped me showed up broken so they replaced it immediately with a new one. Both of them look exactly the same as the pictures posted here... dusty and drab. I was thoroughly disappointed. If the reader that sent you those pics is getting a new one just because he's causing bad publicity then you bet your sweet @$$ that I will be asking for my non-dusty, vibrant-colored replacement, too.
But a word to the wise, until they shake the dust off the process don't spend your money on it.
Chad G Apr 23rd 2008 2:13PM
Finn,
I am not getting a replacement just because of the quality. If you look on her left arm you'll see a big white spot. It may look like glare on the picture but it is not. It was the first thing I noticed when I got my figureprint. The thread they linked on WoW forums has my "review" of it.

i have herd to many stories like this about figureprints. At first i loved the idea but the more i see the actual figures the more i realize they suck. im having my friend make me a custom figure that i can put in poses and such. its not gonna sit stationary in a glass case its whole life. if you want a figureprint honestly check out my friend Kyle Robinson at http://www.kylerobinsoncustoms.com/ he does amazing work and really wants to get into WoW figures.
