Let us play Broken

Frankly, I've always wanted the option to play as a broken from the moment they introduced the draenei as a playable race. If I could, I would switch race to broken in a country minute. I just think they're awesome. The only other race who piques my interest this much are the worgen, and I think they'd look kind of dumb in my gear, but the broken have this whole 'Hulk smash' vibe and I've always liked their voice emotes. "Must not give up... must....remember the light."

I'd love it if we had more options like this: orcs could play fel orcs with the massive teeth and red skins, tauren could play Grimtotems (I guess Tauren could fake it pretty well by selecting the right color choices), night elves could play as satyrs or naga (maybe even as dryads or keepers of the grove), and draenei could be broken. Is there any sub-race or variant you'd play? Leper gnomes? Dark iron dwarves? Fully skeletal forsaken? Forest trolls? Man, the mind boggles at the possibilties, which is why it will probably never happen, but I can dream.

I'd like to see multiple races for the Forsaken. Humans weren't the only ones affected by the plague.
Culhag Apr 23rd 2008 11:17AM
I'm not sure of that...

Honestly, I don't understand why the current Draenei model was ever created. The Broken models are awesome, and fit the WCIII image so much better.
As for sub-races, I would reroll a Wildhammer Shaman in a second.

You've apparently read my mind.
I'd love to have a Broken Shaman, just seems so fitting, much more than a Draenei Shaman. I'd happily change two of my 70's for the chance start from scratch with a Broken.
Other faves would be Naga, Fel Orc, and, yes, a Felguard or any other demonic entity; maybe in WoW: Burning Legion or whatnot they'll make the Legion a playable faction; one can only dream...

It's interesting to consider that, in the shades of grey of the current Warcraft Universe, there's no outright 'evil' or 'good' faction. Both Alliance and Horde have morally questionable quests, characters who ask you to do things that you might balk at, and infamous ne'erdowells as well as grand heroes. A Burning Legion faction could at least bring in your face evil to the game's PvP. Especially if it was a third faction that was hostile to the other two just as they are to each other now, you could have all sorts of interesting fun in PvP with that.

I think it would be cool to have the concept of "alignment" in the game and have quests that moved your alignment towards good or evil. Then your physical appearance could change gradually based on the types of things you did. Being an evil human would start to make you look more evil regardless of the innocent face you chose at character creation.

Sometimes the most innocent face can be the most evil.

I would like a human sub class called Merican's
They would look human but have a -20% diplomacy rating.
Most factions would be unfriendly to start with and never go above neutral.

LOL

Wow. Political trolling in a freaking video game forum.
Epic Fail.

On the one hand, this is kinda off topic and provokes for the sake of provocation, and as a native born American it irritates me.
But it also made me laugh.
Curse you for twisting my sympathies, commenter!

I think they would call that a nadian.
JPN Apr 23rd 2008 11:18AM
Could they add Broken to the Horde??
Algorithm Apr 23rd 2008 11:44AM
No way. That would be totally broken.
Matt Apr 24th 2008 3:26PM
the broken are converted draenei so they would naturally be horde side? And this brings up a good conversation i had with a guildie...why are the trolls so damn horrible looking?? they are skinny, frail, lanky lookin freaks. why cant they look similar to their forest troll counterparts, if they did, I WOULD roll a troll, but as it is...they look stupid, sound cool, and dance like pros, so even with a beserk racial and a bow expertise, i cant roll a troll, because they are the steve urkle of the horde side.
Adaph Apr 23rd 2008 11:18AM
Forest Troll, Just cus they are awesome.
And leper gnomes would be just wrong....
Wraeth Apr 23rd 2008 11:20AM
If I remember correctly, the model for the broken (in movement terms etc.) is basically a mini-Tauren.
Which just makes it even cooler ;_;
