Holy Paladin! A 3,000 team/personal rating

While many people enjoy Arena play, for both fun and gear, some teams really stand out from the crowd. DonLolo z Wladem, a 2v2 team from Burning Legion EU has topped the arena charts with a 3,000 team rating. Not only does this team have no need to worry about rating requirements for Season four gear, but they will have plenty of arena points to spend once it is released. This rating yields 1,140 points per week at the 2v2 level.
The team is led by Noksil a Human Paladin. Noksil is the first player to reach a 3,000 personal rating. The build for this mighty combatant consists of 44 points in holy and 17 points in Protection. This build reflects the versatility of hybrid classes in DPS and healing. The team roster also contains two Subtly Rogues: Mnius with a personal rating of 2,883 and Tatus; who carries a rating of 1965 for the 15 games he's completed this season on the team.
Congratulations DonLolo z Wladem. Welcome to the Arena Hall of Fame.

He is a known win trader that has been kick from his guild for doing this. Get your facts straight.

You mean, welcome into the Hall of Shame...

Total BS.
Don't congratulate cheaters, it only serves to reinforce their reasons for doing it.
This is the exact reason we're getting arena changes this week to stop teams from win trading. They're just proving that if you do it right there's no limit to your rating as the system currently stands. The only reason other teams in other battlegroups haven't bothered is because it takes a lot of work and you're much better off just selling your team points to 2-3 random scrubs while you do it. In fact, I wouldn't doubt if this team is used to sell points with absolutely nothing but losses for the rest of the season. 1000+ points goes for 400-500g on my server, so if you can play 40 games and sell the points to 3 people a week you're gold for a few hours worth of play especially if you don't even have to try to win. (and most likely this will just be the opposite end of a win trading team in the future too as that's usually the agreement)
This is why the arena is broken and needs to be fixed. Unfortunately I don't think the changes that are coming up will fix it much. :(

Does some months Im surveying the 2vs2 , they changed team names but there was always Noksil on the top with almost the same roster, this just prooves gears does not make the skill, there is so much outta there with the same gears that couldnt reach them, you must have the skill near, they are stars like there is everywhere and calling them cheater because they are #1 is normal from jealous guys very low in stats with the same specs :)

@Mera_LaCroisadeEcarlate
Did people take stupid pills this morning? A holy paladin and Kara-geared rogue are not going to hit 3000 in 2v2. This team was already linked on the forums and reported to Blizzard.
I thought Wowinsider's post on this was sarcastic, but now I'm beginning to wonder.

Win trader. Team DonLolo z Wladem jumped from below 1800 to 2873 in a span of three days from April 4-7. If you believe those wins are legit, then you haven't played Arenas above 2-2.2k.
His Rogue has Karazhan gear and hasn't even put any armor on his leg piece. 1k rating points in three days. Do the math.
Rick Apr 29th 2008 11:26AM
Yeah for starters, it's not a hybrid build he's pure holy with points spread into protection. Sadly the chances of their team taking part in win trading is very likely since they had a normal rating and then in the span of a few days shot up to the mid 2000's.
As it was mentioned before it's 44/17 not 41/17 but that's just me picking it apart.
I hope they did indeed do it themselves without falling to exploitive cheating and the likes. Hopefully Blizzard investigates and they can get their accolades with due cause or they can get stomped in the ground for being such scrubs. Jesus this is journalism?

This game is one of the many reasons why wow fails lately. It is blatant win trading and everyone on that server knows about it.
Anyway I leaving wow for Age of Conan myself so what do I care!
GotNoClue Apr 29th 2008 11:22AM
Can I Has a Poster access on this site? I have clearly a clue about about arena.. amanda clearly hasn't ;)
I think this is a proof of concept of the deep exploitability of the arena system because you don't take a significative advantage in terms of arena points once you pass 2400 rating..
gratz to the poster if your purpose was to be ironic ;)

Those two rogues are rather interesting. I especially like the dagger-step rogue build with a 3000 rating. Considering that goes against pretty much all conventional wisdom I've read about rogue arena, either that dude is seriously awesome, or a serious win trader.
Dacool561 Apr 29th 2008 11:31AM
I really do hope this blog post was meant to be a joke. EU-Bloodlust is the most notorious Win Trading server known to mankind. And especially Noksil himself is well known as a huge win trader amongst the gladiator arena levels.
Pve and Kara gear will NOT get you this high of a rating no matter how damn good you think you are.
ShafeNutS Apr 29th 2008 11:33AM
Amanda don't let them be to rough on you. You reported what would be cool information if in fact it were true. You should not have to go and confirm something you read clearly from Blizzards data-base that is created form in-game statistics taken straight from the realm. Now it does a good job of showing how arena is broken and why it is a bad thing. The community will get behind the cause of ending win trading and it will eventually be fixed. Keep up the great work WoW Insider team I need something to while im at work zzzzzzzzzz!

Of course not!
Journalism is dead, long live blogging! You don't have to have any standards, fact-checking, research or anything at all when you're a blogger. You just post crap left and right and watch the ad money flow in!
The truth is though, for every serious journalist that attempts to publish their writings on a website as a blog, there are 10 of these blogs where the people writing have never been to a j-school, don't have any standards and it just brings the cause of the real blogger down to a level that most people still think of blogs as a joke rather than a serious platform for self-publication that removes the corporate entity from the editorial platform of journalism.
There's a way to provide entertainment while simultaneously not publishing falsehoods and just plain wrong things. Thankfully there are comments that allow people to correct the posters when they do things like this. You don't get that sort of thing in normal journalism so I suppose it balances out in some aspect.

Thanks... the way I see it, I don't make the news, I just report it. If it is, in fact, win trading (which is likely) at least it's epic win trading. And whether or not it's fair, it's a fact of life. Blizz has made some attempts to combat cheating in the arena, but people will always find a way to manipulate mechanics. If Blizz is doing nothing about it, then we have to assume it's working as intended, thus it truly is an accomplishment.
Similar to Athene, you can love him, or you can hate him, but for what he does he's the best at it. In this case I'm willing to report what is... and that is a 3,000 rating, which to my knowledge has never been done before.
I love the arena, but would never participate in win trading. I do it for fun and camaraderie. I've found that we come to the game for many reasons and we have many different goals. It seems we always look down at folks who have different goals than us. For example I can't fathom how anyone actually enjoys raiding, my experience with raids have largely been negative(Not the mechanics themselves, mostly the horrible things that come over Ventrilo). But if raiding is your game, play it! If doing whatever it takes to top the arena charts is your thing, go for it.
I never let the haters get to me. Everyone is free to express their opinions. I love that the comments always expand upon the posts, and it's a great opportunity to learn new facts and strategies. I'm happy to get folks talking about just about anything. Maybe there's something about graduate school that makes you humble in the face of criticism. At any rate thank you all for your comments!

Fact Checking. I know in here at NW, if you fail to fact check and get something wrong, it doesn't matter how good your article is, you are given a F, period.
Heilig Apr 29th 2008 2:40PM
Stop congratulating yourself for being a bad journalist. Apparently all that criticism you took in grad school didn't teach you any skepticism. A 30 second search showed that these poorly geared players are over 350 points higher than any other team in their battlegroup.

You don't achieve that kind of spread in ANY competitive activity without cheating.
Hollywood Ron Apr 29th 2008 11:34AM
Win trader or not, I have a new spec for my PVPadin.
Hollywood Ron Apr 29th 2008 11:35AM
Except for improved righteous fury, that's pointless. Gonna put those 3 points into Shield Specialization.
Sam Apr 29th 2008 11:41AM
Righteous fury is mathmatically better than shield spec unless you're wearing tank gear with lots of block rating.
Shield spec is only 30% less damage when you block. Righteous fury is 6% less damage, constant.
Factor your block rating into that and you realise you have to literally be wearing almost entirely tank gear for shield spec to mitigate more damage overall.
Think before you type.
Hollywood Ron Apr 29th 2008 11:53AM
Then why take Redoubt at all?
