Bloodlust realms down to fix latency
As of 10:50 AM PDT, 1:50 PM EDT, Blizzard has brought down all the realms in the Bloodlust (US) battlegroup for brief maintenance "to address issues relating to high latency and disconnections." The affected realms are expected to be done after about an hour, which means they should come back up around 11:50 AM PDT/2:50 PM EDT, which is in twenty minutes. The affected realms are listed as: Aman'Thul, Barthilas, Blackrock, Caelestrasz, Dath'Remar, Dreadmaul, Frostmourne, Frostwolf, Khaz'goroth, Kil'Jaeden, Kilrogg, Nagrand, Ner'zhul, Proudmoore, Sen'Jin, Silver Hand, Thaurissan, Tichondrius, and Vek'nilash.
Update (3 PM): Not entirely unexpectedly, the realms are not fixed yet. The new ETA from Bizzard is 1 PM PDT/4 PM EDT.
Update (4:30 PM): The realms are back up, but still experiencing issues. Blizz promises to provide more updates as they are available.
Update (8:15 PM): Realms down again. They were supposed to be back up at 5 PDT/8 EDT, but apparently that is not the case.

I wished when realms go down Blizz would update their damned realm status site so If I cant log on im not stressing as to whether im being hacked or not. Last night the Azjol-Nerub (Cyclone BG) realm went down 2 times in the matter of hours and there wasnt a damned thing on the realm status site.

On Mannoroth-US in the Ruin Battlegroup my typical 60-100 ms has become 250-350 ms really doesn't bother me too much, but if it continues that way it could cause some majoer issues. Hopefully if they isolate a latency issue on the bloodlust battlegroup it will help make it easier to fix all battlegroups.

Been having the same problem where ping is off the charts. It's been hell for our healers :/
I really hope this is the fix we've been waiting for.

Eliah, you wrote about the launch of the Dreadmaul server. http://www.wowinsider.com/2008/04/19/new-oceanic-pvp-realm-for-transfer/

So I did! Thanks, I have a terrible memory.

This issue is more than your regular old latency. I play on Proudmoore. Something is jacked up with our entire battlegroup. At the end of an AV game, we found ourselves stuck inside the AV instance. The only recovery was to close WoW using alt+F4. Upon attempting to log back in, my character was still stuck at an AV loading screen and none of my Proudmoore alts could be found.
I think this was all brought on by the Alliance victory in my AV game. It was too much of a shock to the servers :P

Since 2.4 patch it seems that all the realms I play on have horrible lag. I used to get 65-70 ms ping times. Now they are anywhere from 170-450ms!!! I sure hope blizz is planning on a fix for all the realms. The lag is killing me.

I hate to cry "QQ MOAR, NUB", but when my normal latency is 200-300, and a "bad" day is 10-12k, seeing people complain about having 200 kisses me off a bit.

I don't know if you play on a Bloodlust battlegroup, but a normal 300-400ms ping (blame the location of most players) is now 600-800, with quite frequent lag spikes. Tbh, it's quite unacceptable.

I've never been below 200ms on Aman'Thul, with 300 being the norm.
Going from 60-100ms to 150-200ms? Sounds like 'locks moaning about not being able to wear plate.
;)

Almost 7:00 pm EST and all the realms are still down. Whatever the problem is, I better be getting a refund of time spent!
oniwah Apr 30th 2008 7:46PM
here here, its been all fragen day we better get refunds.
Todd May 2nd 2008 6:28PM
I'm shocked, Blizzard actually took what I said to heart and gave a slight refund.

No offence, but seeing someone complaion about beinmg blown out to 150ms - 200ms just makes me want to break stuff... Oceanic player here, with a 10Mbit cable connection, running nothing other than wow that uses the net (Literally nothing else) and at the moment i'm averaging 450 to 600 when good, 1000+ when something isn't so happy.
This is experienced on the whole by most Australian players like myself, yet Blizzard for all their claims of "quality this, and quality that" refuses to put a set of realms close enough for us to get a decent latency...
Tunza May 1st 2008 1:36AM
200ms is bad?
Try playing on the poor cousin Oceanic servers where "good" latency is 400ms and average is around 500ms. I dare say Oceanic pvpers would destroy other realms if they were allowed to play on a level playing field after years of being hamstrung from 30 yards by warriors.
