According to our tipster Gwwfps of the blog
Potato Skin,
World of Warcraft distributor
The9 has
manually set all the quests in the Isle of Quel'danas to be fully completed -- that is,
all quests on the Isle are now open to all players as though
Phase 4 had been opened. With the help of
Babelfish, as far as I can make it out, this decision was arrived at to
"make up several weeks the partial servers to appear returns to the files question for generally to play the loss which the family brings". If my
Engrish serves me right, this means that the move was a drastic resolution to having massive downtime for numerous servers which resulted in realms-wide progression rollbacks. Some servers reportedly had their Isle of Quel'danas progress rolled back several times over the course of one day.
Gwwfps
explains it better in his blog, noting that Patch 2.4 resulted in poor server performance across the board. Apparently,
WoW China has been suffering from performance issues for quite some time and some have suggested that the servers upon which the game runs aren't quite up to par with Blizzard's standards. Others argue -- with good reason -- that the forced unlocking of the phases makes the game
"less immersive." The sweeping measure also demonstrates an apparent lack of industriousness on the part of The9, who in theory could simply roll back individual servers to specific progress levels. On the other hand, players can probably get all ecstatic about getting their hands on
epic gems so early (blast my slacker server!).

lol, yeah
pudds May 2nd 2008 4:06PM
Gold sellers farm on EU and US servers, not chinese servers, since those are the target market.

Weird, I never heard anyone in my family say that. Though I admit I've been a bit out of touch with Cantonese pop culture nowadays.
Unless it's Filipino.
Or Indonesian.
Or Hindi.
Or Vietnamese.
Or Korean.
Or Sri Lankan.
Or Japanese.
Or Mandarin.
Or Mongolian.
Or Thai.

I wish Blizzard would help some of the low pop realms in the US this way.

All the servers have a time limit: if they don't unlock the next phase by then, it'll be done automatically.
Basically, you'll get there sooner or later.

Can't believe the posts here ..... "Engrish" isn't universally Asian - it's universally OFFENSIVE.
Nobody here thinks that typing out a stereotype and a message board full of off-color jokes is in bad taste?
TheBTeam May 4th 2008 2:46PM
Your lame PC outrage is universally Californian. L2relax
Al in SoCal May 5th 2008 3:13PM
To "The BTeam" - actually your lack of outrage is universally ignorant. I see why you're not the 'A' team.
TheBTeam May 4th 2008 7:30PM
Do you mean to infer in your snarky comment that the letter B is in someway inferior to the letter A? You, sir, are a Letter-ist! I am OUTRAGED at your wholly IGNORANT comment. The letter B is just as valuable to the English language as the letter A. In fact, many beautiful and meaningful words begin with the letter B. One example of a B word pertinent to this argument is “Base,” as in, “All your Base are belong to us!”
Please don’t mistake my defense of B for Letter-ism. I don’t want to suggest that the letter A is not special as well. A good example of an A word is “Asian,” which I also believe is pertinent to this conversation. To wit, “Engrish is UNIVERSALLY Asian.”
I hope you stop practicing this disgusting brand of bigotry, as I find it OFFENSIVE.
See, Al, I can also get worked up about silly things. Let’s focus our energies on the real issues and not some interestingly translated signs. Again, L2relax.
The letter B is beautiful too!

I'm not worked up at all. I would like to say I'm betting that most of you (who posted comments here) would not use the word 'Engrish' in front of an Asian person you didn't know out of respect, and I think just a bit of common sense would tell you the same should be true of postings here on this blog.
Honestly - this post with the stereotyped misspoken word seems more from a children's after-school tv special about diversity than an actual serious poster - but then maybe he just knows who his audience is and how they will react.
