Breakfast Topic: What neglected story thread do want to see Blizzard address next?
We're pretty lucky in WoTLK, since it looks like two long neglected lore questions, when Tirion Fordring was going to try resurrecting the Silver Hand, and what happened to King Varian Wyrnn, are going to be answered. That doesn't mean that many more haven't been left wide open.
For example, What is up with Deathwing? If you've hung around the Dragonmaw camp at Netherwing Ledge long enough, you've probably seen them receive a certain visitor who suggests the lord of the Black Dragonflight isn't quite dead yet. There's also the issue of what Azshara is planning, and whether she is guiding the Naga and Murlocs of Azeroth to some greater, sinister purpose. It would also be nice to know what Malfurion is up to in the Emerald Dream.
Even on a "smaller" note, we have to wonder what Sylvanas wanted with those Bloodstone Relics, or what Magatha is up to. Given that it was bad enough that the Arikara came after her, and evidence points to her people being in league with the scourge-allied Razormane Quillboar and looking for ancient Necromantic knowledge, I have to think she's up to something huge.
We can only hope Blizzard will get back to these lore lines sooner rather than later, but since WoTLK is getting back to some old threads, I'd say the hope is pretty good. What lore thread bought up by a quest or another source do you want to see addressed or finished soon?

Stories around the big figures (leaders) of the Alliance/Horde
They should have more depth in game through quests and related lore.
Terrant May 4th 2008 11:42AM
The Eranikus chain and Gilneas.

I second Gilneas, that place has always bugged me since I came through Silverpine for the first time on my UD mage. It's the biggest tease of all the closed zones (http://www.wowwiki.com/Category:Closed_Zones) because there's only one wooden gate, that we can peer through, between it and the rest of azeroth, whereas every other zone has either a huge mountain line or ocean.
Although I'd like to see any one of those closed zones opened up.

Personally I think that the Emerald Dream as an expansion will cover not only Malfurion's story, but Eranikus, Possibly Aszhara and the Naga's as well, seeing as how is was Furion and the night elves that played a major part in her original down fall. She does have that bitterness towards those with Druidic nature.
While Lich King is continuing with the blue dragon flight (Worlds First aspect to appear in game..... totally smells like a bridge over to see the others, I'm looking for you DEATHWING), Dalaran, Sir Fordring's revival of the Silverhand, as well as a few others (ie, Grim Batol, possibly the big gates in Tirisfal)
I do ponder that with the Return of Stormwind's King (lotr?) what will happen to certain Quest chains. (Ie. Onyxia, and the Defias group).
:D So many unknowns.... I Can't wait to see what'll develope

Definitely Eranikus. It's such a cool setup... for nothing!!!
Daniel Whitcomb May 4th 2008 4:02PM
Eranikus has been answered. He appears in the questline for the Sceptre of the Shifting Sands to open Ahn'Qiraj in Silithus, where he is purified by Tyrande.

What the hell happened to the Emerald Dream? There were all sorts of rumbings about it, they set up those 4 raid dragons guarding the portals, they set up that massive Eranikus event in Moonglade...and then nothing. I guess they've decided to do something else with it. It'll probably be an expansion. After all, Outland was going to be a patch addition, and they changed their idea on that too. (It was far smaller back then.)
Also, what the hell happened to Hyjal? I remember hearing about people sneaking into the zone back when the game was still in beta testing. I wonder what happened to make them decide to hold it this long. Sure there's the dungeon version, but not many people get to go there.

I'm pretty sure that Queen Azshara will be the featured end boss of another expansion... she seems the likely culprit, roughly on par with Kaelthas or Kil'jaeden. Perhaps the rumored sea-based expansion (which would feature the Maelstrom, maybe Kul Tiras, Undermine, etc.)

Confirmation of Tabetha's true identity once and for all.
I can guarantee the Kirin Tor are well aware of who she is. Mage (and warlock) trainers have been sending their most promising students to meet her for years.
It's time for the silence to be broken!
Ambril May 4th 2008 1:08PM
Warlock quest:
Second, you must travel to Desolace and find an Infernal Orb from one of the warlocks of Mannoroc Coven. It is that orb that you will cleanse with the help of a mage named Tabetha deep in southern Dustwallow Marsh. She will aid you because of our history together.
Tabetha:
And obviously not being a mage, I wonder if I can trust you at all. I can smell the power of the arcane on you, but you seem to have eluded the stank of corruption that comes so willingly with your kind.
Oh, so Menara sent you. Fair enough... I suppose you may stay as my guest for the time being. But you must be on some pressing business--perhaps you're here seeking lost power? Maybe I'm mistaken. Maybe corruption isn't too far away from you after all.

Couldn't care less about lore. Fix the arenas, please.
Kadathwack May 4th 2008 3:27PM
It's not really an unfinished questline or story thread, but I think it's really sad that a zone as important to the lore as Hyjal still isn't accessible, in non-instance form. There must be something important in the present day we could go up there to do.
More on-topically, I'd really like to see things with Deathwing fleshed out. The hints dropped about him in TBC make me feel that they're doing something with him in the near future.

Im waiting for the tie-in between WoW and Starcraft lol! We have Protoss Pylons in Silithus, and zerg-ish bugs in many places.
TiM May 4th 2008 3:35PM
First off, I think that title is mising a "you" in there somewhere.
I'd like to see the ravenholdt line finally finished. But I'm biased that way.
Gilneas, I'd like to see wrynn come back to SW. eranikus. hell Ashbringer!
Fobok May 4th 2008 4:30PM
I definitely agree on wanting to see what happened to the Stormwind King (in-game, don't really want to be spoiled by the comic if it's sharing a story).
I'd also like to see some closure for the Gnomes. Gnomeregon is one of the least popular low-level dungeons, and for those that have done it, as time advances one has to wonder, why aren't the Gnomes moving back in yet? (I doubt we'll actually see anything on this, but I'm hoping.)
I'd also like to see what Dornaa (and her blood-elf alternate) get up to, but I think we'll have to wait longer than Wrath for that.
Rasnarok May 5th 2008 2:38AM
I wouldn't call it neglected, in a sense, but in the Children's Week quest to take the orphan to Caverns of Time, the guards go to kill the child but the dragon tells them she can not be held responsible for what she does, or fails to do, in the future.
I really hope we get to see what the child actually grows up to become, perhaps in a CoT instance to the future or something?
Bylak May 4th 2008 6:39PM
Reading that bit of dialogue about the Deathwing thing, it sounds more likely that it's Nefarion who's still alive rather than Deathwing. Course, this isn't me saying Deathwing ISN'T alive, I think it would just be badass to see that Nef is still kicking. Oh UBRS, so much fun
Daniel Whitcomb May 4th 2008 7:50PM
Actually Bylak, it's pretty clear to me that Sinestra refers to Deathing:
Lady Sinestra says: You have no doubt heard about Nefarian's failures on Azeroth... While he has fallen, the experiment continue. My master... He continues the work that his progeny began.
"He has fallen:" This means Nefarian has fallen>
"My Master... continues the work that his progeny began:" This means that Deathwing continues the work that his progeny, his son Nefarian, began.
Dewey May 5th 2008 10:19AM
Nefarian's head has been cut off and displayed in two major cities more times than we can count. I'm pretty sure he's extremely dead. :)
Two pages of comments and no one's mentioned Garona?
