60-day cards for $20 at Circuit City
Back in the day, you could get 60 day playtime cards for $20 at Amazon, all the time. This appears to be the resurrection of that deal: the same cards are currently available for $20 at Circuit City. This is, as they say, a $30 value, assuming you normally pay the single-month rate of $15 per month. The cards are sold out online, but available for in-store pickup; click over to the site and enter your ZIP code to see if they're available in your store.Personally, I'm not going for it, because the closest Circuit City is about 15 minutes away, and also because I like to pay for a month at a time and then cancel my account. That way, if I happen not to be able to play for some amount of time after my subscription is up, it doesn't renew until I need it and go renew it manually (which takes all of two minutes), and so I save a few bucks. But for those with more regular play schedules, this looks like a good deal.

If this works, this is a great deal if only to eBay the codes.

Pity it's out of stock in my area, I actually have Circuit City gift cards to blow and no desire to visit there otherwise.

I hope you're joking.

The stores just put a release date, that's been there for a long time. It's not necessarily the real release date.
G May 12th 2008 9:38PM
It has been listed on Amazon (ASIN B000VJTJNE) since at least September of 2007, with a similar release date. Neither is likely accurate.

Just FYI for those of you out there that either, may not have a Circuit City nearby or if by chance their sold out:
The Ad for this deal was in the Sunday paper. If you can snag the CC Sales Paper from a Parent or Spouse's Sunday Paper, both Wal-Mart and Best Buy honor their competitions ads. It mus be the actual print ad, but as proof my wife bought two WoW time cards about 2 hours ago using this method, as the Wal-mart is nearby and the closest Circuit City is about 30 minutes away.
And that placeholder Lich King date has been inplace by Gamestop for nearly a year. It's probably pretty close to that date, but it's old news and frankly not official.
As usual, Blizzard will announce the release date when they're damn good and ready, not a moment sooner. :P

The Circuit City website is not responding ... I wonder why :P

Any1 knows if this game card will work on Eu account?Because in my country this game card costs like 60$ :/
Bunnyfu May 13th 2008 8:09AM
No, time cards are region specific.

15 minutes away!
You make it sound like it's a quest of epic proportions, to drag yourself that far. 15 minutes is just around the corner - so get out there and walk soldier!
Eliah Hecht May 13th 2008 9:24AM
I meant 15 minutes by car, i.e. not worth it, considering the price of gas.
Bloodthorn May 13th 2008 9:54AM
Lol that's right, you have those atrocitous prices on gasoline these days xD
the rest of the world happily lives with these already, knowing it helps prevent pollution instead of letting people drive mofo big cars just because they can, ruining the Earth's atmosphere for everyone else. Get used to it.
(and no I am not French xD)

Might not be french, but still a self righteous prick.
Macdoug May 13th 2008 8:55AM
I've also been told by my students that Circuit City is requiring that you be 17+ to purchase the cards. True?
Markov May 13th 2008 11:01AM
Hm, I just bought 5 (the maximum allowed) from CC online, not 5 minutes ago. Guess they are back in stock.

Really don't like this as someone who pays months in advance via credit card. I'm cutting out the middleman and guaranteeing Blizz my business.
Why should only card buying customers get special deals like this? Wheres my cheaper WoW? Even with the 6 month prepaid it's still $12.99 a month.

this is also at Fry's electronics.
