Breakfast Topic: Looking forward to Wrath (revisited)
Just a week and a half or so ago, we wanted to know what you were most looking forward to in Wrath of the Lich King, and then last Friday we heard about umpteen million new things about Wrath. So we should probably ask again: considering what we learned last week, now what are you most excited about for the next expansion?New talents solidly won the poll last time around (and unfortunately, it one of the thing we haven't heard much about yet -- besides the Warlock hints, Blizzard hasn't said much about what classes will be able to do in the next ten levels), but surely the 10/25 man news (that we've been talking about all weekend) will get some more folks excited about the raids. And personally, I'm much more excited about siege engines than I was before Friday -- I previously thought it would only be a few quests in Lake Wintergrasp, but from what we heard, siege engines and multi-person mounts are going to become a big part of life all over Azeroth.
So how's your outlook on Wrath of the Lich King looking now? Are you still waiting to hear about those new talents, or did all that news on Friday pique your interest in something else? What are you most excited about for the next expansion?

I'm still looking forward to rolling a Death Knight. The class just looks like a ton of fun - and tanking with no shield? Yes please!

Good idea on revisiting this topic with the new info cause it might have changed alot of peoples views on wrath. back when we didn't know this new stuff I was into the siege machines alot, but now... seeing DK class reveals in more depth I really want to create a death knight. GHOULS!

A 10-man and 25-man option = Genius
I wasn't looking forward to WotLK but after I read that, I am psyched! I get to see more of the game story wise.

Same. I'm never going to have a 25-man raid group, as much as I'd like to be in one, If it hasn't happened in four years of trying to get into raiding, it just isn't going to happen. In old-wow there was UBRS and nothing after that ('sides the occasional ZG semi-pug with at least three guilds teaming up to field the full 20 people.) and now in TBC I have exactly one more instance to look forward to (Zul'Aman), after Kara.
So the 10/25 -man thing is by far what I'm most excited about. When I start raiding in WotLK I won't have to stop as soon as I've started; my guild and I will be able to go all the way to the true end.
IMO I think blizz should make the 10-mans harder to execute than the 25-mans, so a month or three after release the 25-man guilds who are starting to clear into T9/T10 will try "playing around" in the 10-mans and get their asses handed to them, shutting them up about "easy-mode epics" That'd be sweet.
(Oh the Vehicle combat thing = win also)

I think of this as a whole. There are WAY TOO MANY things I would love to see in the upcomming expansion.
I guess that if I can pick only one, it would be the Death Knight.
More talents mean a little addition to your gameplay.
A new class mean a huge change into the game, not the only reason to play expansion, but one of the bests.

"More talents mean a little addition to your gameplay."
Actually this has the potential to very much change game play for some. Blizzard gave us talent trees so we could each pick interesting abilities to differentiate ourselves from others in the same class. Not just different trees, but different talents within trees. Unfortunately this has led not only to shoehorning talent trees, but having the "one true build" for some classes.
Looking at the rogue tree, combat is the least rogue like and is considered the one true raid spec (pve). If you do the trees up to level 80 it just gets worse. The only way for this to be fixed is to mess with the talent trees again.
What I'm sort of hoping for is a second tier talent tree, and less dependence on going up a different spec tree. That might possibly make us more "the same" again, however trying to balance everything to level 80 when you can get the big talent at 41 is just to extended and messy for even Blizzard to get right.

More lore.
I mean, sure we'll get Arthas, but it'd be nice for people to learn about the origins of the Lich King, Aegwynn and Sargeras' battle, dragonflights, the Silver Hand and Tirion, and other new stuff. I would hate it if it were all just ARTHAS IS BAD WE KILL HIM NAO YAY LEWT
Camaris May 12th 2008 8:35AM
It's interesting that we're also visiting Arthas in the Caverns of Time, before he was the Lich King. And we'll apparently also run into him during solo questing, before the actual boss-fight. So there's definitely room to tell his story.

That's right that battle did happen in Northrend didn't It?
Hansbo May 12th 2008 8:37AM
I think the prospect of 10-man raiding. I prefer to raid with a small group of friends, and therefore I've never been able to take the step over to 25-mans. Now I feel like a kid in a toy store.

I'm looking forward to an even better designed 70-80 experience! 60-70 is my favorite part of the game and I think the next xpac will bring even more fun.
Nobody is seeming to address the amount of xp and time it will take for these next 10 levels. I think that Blizzard wants the leveling to go a little bit slower, as the 60-70 gap can be done in just 2-4 zones of Outland.
kunukia May 12th 2008 8:45AM
Much, much cool stuff, but one thing that really appeals to me is lots of instances that can be done in an hour or less. I often do NOT instance, because I can't set aside the 2 or 3 hours at once to do so. And, Death Knights sound great, my son and I are going to wait a couple weeks (meanwhile exploring new territory and leveling our 70s) for the rush to die down, and start our DKs together.
Bysshe May 12th 2008 8:47AM
I just want to be able to change my hairstyle and dance. That's it. Everything else is just 10 more level of the same, now with snow and undead.
Xetan May 12th 2008 8:53AM
Death Knights, and 10 man raids.
Zoidberg May 12th 2008 9:14AM
I'm looking forward to low end PvE gear not sucking so much. I'm also looking forward to getting some story and quest chains behind the 5-man instances. All the interesting lore was for raids and solo play with BC.
Tech May 12th 2008 9:15AM
1. All content available to 10 man raids is awesome!!!
2. Death Knights!
3. New talents!
4. Hopefully some worth while world PvP!
FireStar May 12th 2008 9:15AM
Death Knight + the ability to put 5 70s through it :).
Oh and talents! Even if they don't extend the trees I just like having more talent points.
Tryhael May 12th 2008 9:17AM
I'm still mostly looking forward towards new talents and skills. But the 10man raid thing is imho a genius move from blizz. And one thing we haven't heard anything about, but something I'm really hoping for is more class specific quests.
Blackhorned May 12th 2008 9:24AM
Something that often seems to be overlooked are the new abilities that our current toons will get. I remeber getting stoked over the Elementals my shaman was able to use... and then the Devistate on my warrior... great new adds to vary play style. I look forward to what they are going to add this go around.
Zeplar May 12th 2008 9:41AM
Ferals being fixed (made viable 1600+ in arena and given a solid tanking roll the way Paladins were). I hope. Blizzard hasn't promised yet :(
