imo having a healer as RL is the better option. Organising healing orders can take a lot of time and you need to have a certain amount of clout sometimes.
Having to organise the tanks and the dps is a lot easier in comparison and can be left to class leaders.
The rest is being able to spot mistakes and correct them.

Tanks are very good for marking and deciding when to pull (as that's what they've been doing in instances for the last 70 levels).

Both tanks and healers have moments during the raid where they have a lot of demands on them, and concentrating hard or even talking can cause failure (to heal or stay alive or control mobs).

So some dpser who doesn't live and die by his damage meters and can take time from squeezing every last bit of dps to tell people what to do during the fight is IMO a good choice.
