WoW Insider Show Episode 37: Happy Mother's Day
This last week on the WoW Insider Show, which is now available for listening on WoW Radio, we celebrated Mother's Day by inviting on both Amanda Dean, and her mother Linda Emrys, who is herself a WoW player. We also had Robin Torres on, who not only writes for us here at WoW Insider, but also is the mother of a two-and-a-half year old. Turpster and I were both on, but we didn't do much more than ask questions this time around -- the ladies got in some good discussion about what it's like to play WoW as a mother, how this game might actually help you raise children, and what it's like coming to WoW as someone who doesn't have a lot of gaming experience. If you're a casual gamer (or just know someone who is), the show should be really interesting to you.And even if not, we were able to squeeze some great Wrath of the Lich King discussion in there after all of Friday's revelations, including what's up with the Death Knights, how 10/25 man raiding will change, and all of the other zone information we heard on Friday, from Dragonblight to Grizzly Hills to how what we see in the Borean Tundra gives us clues about what the next expansion might be.
I thought it was a pretty good show, but if you have other opinions (or any opinions, really), feel free to share them by emailing us at theshow@wow.com. And don't forget that while you can listen to the show either in WoW Radio's archives or on iTunes, you can also hear us live every Saturday afternoon at 3:30pm EST/8:30pm GMT.
Hope your Mother's Day was excellent, and enjoy the podcast!

I thought Mother's day was in March?
Nails May 13th 2008 1:33PM
well then you thought wrong!
Theserene May 13th 2008 1:51PM
It is!
..In the UK anyway.

The majority of the countries out there celebrate Mother's Day on the second sunday of May.
In March, it's mostly Eastern-European and Arab countries celebrating it, but the UK as well.

Why, show after show, do they *keep* calling it a 'music break', when all they ever do is play that same *expletive deleted* savage commercial?
Nails May 13th 2008 1:49PM
because during the live show, they play music too. the break isn't 2 minutes, its around 10 minutes or so. when they go back and remix it for the .mp3 download, they take out the music.

ah... i see.. thx. Never heard it live. Is there anywhere to hear what music they play, other than tuning in to the live event? Just curious. What kind of music to they play? Is a different host the "DJ" for each break?
TotalBiscuit May 13th 2008 2:27PM
Indeed, might wanna listen to the live show if you want the music breaks. The Savage commercial is only played once per show, and you would too if that's where you got your revenue from :)
As much as we'd love to leave the music in the shows, we don't particularly like being sued for copyright infringement and our rights only extend to playing music during live streams.

I thought I heard the commercial twice.... oh well, maybe not.

If you did then I need to fire someone, BECAUSE ZAT IS AGAINST ZEE GUIDELINES!

a mothers day show might have sounded good on paper but was pretty boring

Thank you for your constructive, grammatically correct criticism.

I just wanted to clarify that Mike got my suggestion for Duncor's name wrong... He said "Duncor the Dependable", but I suggested "DUNCOR THE DEPENDABLE". If said properly it should shake the foundation of the room you're in. But thanks for reading my comments all the same =) Good show.
