Dell's XPS line not cancelled after all

You might remember yesterday that we reported on the Wall Street Journal's report on the canceling of the Dell XPS line, which includes the World of Warcraft laptop. It seems that the Wall Street Journal got it wrong, according to Dell spokeswoman Anne B. Camden, speaking via Dell's official blog.
She took issue with almost every aspect of the Wall Street Journal's report, saying that both Alienware and the XPS line are hardly in trouble, and are known for excellence and have gained many awards and accolades, and that Dell was dedicated to both. In fact, she specifically praised the XPS M1730, which is the base for the World of Warcraft laptop.
In short, the WoW laptop will probably still be available for your buying pleasure, if you are inclined to drop between 2500 and 3000 dollars on a souped up gaming laptop and a couple of extra toys.

I'm glad to hear this. I don't want a computer that looks like a bleeping space ship, I want a computer that has a decent graphics card factory installed so I don't have to worry about breaking the card/computer/both. I certainly don't want to pay hundreds or even thousands of dollars EXTRA for these non-features. The non-WoW edition of the M1730 is about what I'll be looking for in my next machine, and I hope it'll still be around.

I'm about to get mine, I'm glad that they are not getting rid of it after all. I mean what else am I going to spent my Tax refund on? My wife and kids... yeah Right!!!

Place your bets, folks, on how long it will take to have my comment removed in favor of another pro-Dell link (like the half-dozen posts that figuratively compare Michael Dell to Jesus Christ).

They should cancel it. Do NOT BUY A DELL XPS!
They are not designed to withstand the heat they produce and Dell knowingly builds them with faulty parts that you will have to have replaced over and over and over and over (8 times in my case).

i have had an XPS laptop since it first came out - not a single problem. Yes they run hot, but it has never been an issue. Not one part replaced - that's ZERO times in my case.

The first one they sent me: the motherboard, 1 of the graphics cards and the battery were faulty. So they sent me an entirely new one.
The new one: The power processor has failed 8 times. 8! Instead of replacing the small part that basically melts, they replace the entire mother board.
After having the same problem 3 times they are supposed to replace your system entirely. Instead they conveniently "lose" all of you customer info after you have a problem 3 times. I have filed a complaint with BBB (me and tens of thousands of others) and am in contact with their special customer service dpt, who still can't track down 2 years worth of information on my system.
They are a horrible EVIL company, who you should not do business with

They are not canceling the XPS line, but they are dropping the higher end gaming rigs. This is due to them stealing sales from Alienware, which Dell bought several years ago.
XPS will essentially become their high-end PC designation, but they will reserve the overclocked, watercooled Quad-core, Dual-SLI, etc. rigs for Alienware to handle.
