I'm kind of the same way. I like pugging alright as a tank, although I prefer to play with my guild. I'm partially pugging my way through to 70 because I know playing with a grab bag of players is a good way to improve my skills. However, I LOVE pugging as a healer. I think it's kind of a tiered thing with accountability. If I screw up as DPS, I'm going to die, and that's totally salveagable. If I screw up as the healer, someone else is going to die, and I'm probably going to as well, but the rest of the group might be okay; that sucks, but as long as it's not the tank that dies, and the dps can finish burning down the mob. It's survivable, if not ideal. But if I screw up as the tank? There's a very, very good chance that we're going to wipe, and that's a bit more pressure than either of the other two roles. And also, arguably, another good reason you see so few pug tanks.
