I've heard some amazing stories about what people have done (or not done) in favor of World of Warcraft. I have to say Lils of EU: Windhammer's story takes the cake. The tale, told by her boyfriend Artimis, describes how she went into labor while playing Warsong Gulch and continued to play until the battle was complete. 12 hours later the couple became proud parents of Hayden. We've heard about weddings, proposals, deaths, and divorces, but a WoW birth is pretty darned epic.
The forum thread had many supporters and detractors for this behavior. I have to agree with Mankirk of Daggerspine "Putting WSG before child birth is pro..." While many believe that the first stop should be the hospital, in this case the new mom was advised to stay calm at home as labor progressed. Nightkestrel of Vashj staunchly defended the couple's labor management decision. Childbirth is an intensely personal thing, and this story has a very happy ending.

Usually, unless the water breaks or contractions are 5 minutes apart, the hospital will tell you to stay home.
Anything that helps get your mind off the contractions is a good thing.

Totally agree, Starlin. A lot of people think that labor is like it is portrayed in films and there is a lot of rushing around and arm flailing. Labor is, for a lot of parents, a long affair with several stages. Like you said, unless the contractions are really coming in, they recommend moms stay home.

Thank you for dispelling the myth that rushing to the hospital is the first thing that needs to happen! I couldn't believe the commentary that the lady was unfit to be a mother--honestly, anything that could take your mind off labor or help you simply be with it without feeling overwhelmed is just fine.
Some of the European countries have a very high home birth rate. Just something to consider in contrast to the comments flaming the mother to be.

My boyfriend's mother likes to tell the story about how she voted in the presidential election while she was in labor. I had a professor in college who told of a colleague of his who went into labor while administering a final. She told her concerned students to sit down and finish their test, and she went to the hospital after they were done.

Yeah it really does take a long time. Sometimes its very quick (few hours). 12 hours is somewhat typical.

I agree, some kind of distraction is a good thing. And WoW seems like a better option than medication, or like the good ol' days: "here honey, have a cigarette to relieve the tension, and maybe a swig of brandy."

Yay, another Hayden running around. Making it more likely for me to hear, "NO WAY! YOUR LAST NAME IS HAYDEN?! WE NAMED OUR SON HAYDEN! HAHAHA FUNNAY!" But seriously, grats on the fresh human.

Breeders crack me up. Why you would want a child is beyond intelligent males comprehension. Men benefit no way from child birth. In fact it's a downward spiral of pain and money. Men were never taught to want children. This is something women brainwash you into later to fufill their own selfish needs. Let me walk you threw the steps of being a father.
1. Pay for all the food your partner eats
2. Become provider financially and physically while the baby grows.
3. After the baby is born the mother wants to "stay home" and raise her children. Guess who has to work 60 hours a week now.
4. Soon you hate your job, your life, and soon your wife/partner
5. Your dreams are crushed and your stuck working the job that pays the bills so she can go to lunch with her mother for the 5th time that week.
6.Your children grow and move away
So yeah having kids is soooo much fun. Thats why I am getting the "snip snip" without telling my wife.

Honestly Naix with that attitude and the fact that you use the term "breeders" I don't think you need to get the "snip snip" to avoid having children.
