Y'know, it couldn't be at all the classic appeal of the strong female protagonist character. Couldn't at all be the fun of a classic fantasy archetype. Y'know, couldn't be one of any number of reasons for choosing a female character above a male one.

It's all about the hot butts.

Sigh.

Also, have you checked out Exalted by White Wolf? What's your opinion on that?

(I did like Jade Empire, but I acknowledge it's a sore case of exactly what you're talking about.)
