Breakfast Topic: Daily chores
Some people really seem to enjoy repping up with various factions. I am not one of them. I've known people who complete the maximum amount of daily quests on multiple characters. It's fantastic that Blizzard has opened up opportunities for relatively easy gold and reputation, but I wish there was a little more variety in the experience.
Prior to Patch 2.4, when the limit was ten, I don't think that I ever completed more than four or five dailies per day. Now that we've been bombarded with Quel'Danas dailies and the limit is twenty-five, I do up to eight on rare occasions. I almost always complete the daily battleground quest, but that's about it most days. I know that they're an excellent source of gold, but they feel like such a chore to me. I find daily questing to be almost as much fun as washing dishes and doing laundry. If it means I never get epic flying mounts on my characters, so be it.
How many dailies do you do and what keeps you motivated to do them?

I did about 16 dailies per day. Once I got enough gold for the epic flyer, I decided not to buy it. Instead, I've been upgrading my gems. Unfortunately, doing 16 a day for 5 weeks burned me out on WoW for awhile. I do play a lot less with that toon, now I play my alts more.

I've been doing the SSO ones like a mad idiot recently, simply due to having taken a 3 week break from the game recently, and finding myself well behind the curve on rep.

I agree with the OP. I totally hate doing the dailies, it's like Blizzard is taking the fun out of the game, i never do any dailies, instead relying on my profs to make me money. Got my epic mount that way.

I do the SSO dailies, cooking and fishing, and the bombing run and prisoner escort from Skettis. I don't always finish the atamal weapons or razorthorn dailies though, as the competition for enemies and roots is high most days.

i don't bother with the daily quests. i get up at the same time each morning, drive the same roads to work, sit in the same desk, stare at the same computer, do the same work, have a cigarette at the same time, take the same lunch break each day and punch out at the same time.
the last thing i need in my life is another repetitive chore.

I love the dailies. They remind me of the fun I had questing to 70 and I do them as much as I can.

To me, doing the dailies is fun. But then, I've only been doing them a week so far. My main goal is to get my epic flyer. Once I have that, I'll only be doing them for the money to get gear and enchants I want. Like a Gyro-Balanced Khorium Destroyer and Surestrike Goggles.

Since my main is a Holy Priest, I can't exactly grind for mats/money. When they raised the daily limit to 25 I went all out until I got my epic flier. Now I only do 4-5 on Quel'danas if I don't have anything else to do.

I agree. Dailies are a chore. Besides the BGs i only two one or two depending on the mood.
SaintStryfe May 20th 2008 8:27AM
Right now, just Netherwing dailies (I didn't start doing Netherwing till a few weeks ago).
Xetan May 20th 2008 8:30AM
I do the IoQD ones and the BG one only.

A novel concept, I know, but: if something in a game isn't fun, why do it?
ErsatzPotato May 20th 2008 8:36AM
Did the SSO dailies in full to rep up on toons for the necks and patterns, did others before them to stash a big pile of gold. Now only do the dailies which are super quick for reward given. BG ones are definitely not on that list. Sure, if you want to do a battleground anyway, grab the daily, but it's not an efficient use of time otherwise.
It is amusing to see people, including in comments to posts on this site, complaining about grinding and same time saying how much they love this or that daily as if they aren't pure grinding. Repeatedly do task for reward = grinding. That you don't *mind* the particular grind doesn't change what it is, just that Blizzard tuned those specific grinds in a way you enjoy. Sick jerk that I am if I'm overtired I don't mind killing a zillion fire elementals for motes, but that doesn't mean it's not grinding.
(Glorious sleepless half hour last night where the plateau was empty when I flew over. 3 primal water, 4 primal fire, 4 primal air. 500g/hour ain't bad at all! Almost worth the insomnia.)

I enjoyed doing the SSO dailies, but after getting to exalted on three of my toons, it got mind numbing. As far as motivation, there were some nice upgrades from the quartermaster, and the extra gold is always a good thing. All dailies are not created equally, though. For example, the Netherwing dailies are brutal on many levels, if not in difficulty. My favourite are the Ogri'la dailies. They take just the right amount of time to do, and the rewards and gold are just right. Also, I love doing the fishing and cooking dailies. It's nice doing dailies where the rewards are the opportunity of getting a cool item or recipe, rather than just gold.

I do most of the SSO dailies (not the armaments), the BG (if it's not WSG), and sometimes the cooking if it's not out of the way. I just leveled my JCing to 375, and am wanting to get exalted with SSO (should be there tomorrow) and buy up all the patterns. I'm sure I'll do the dailies well past exalted, if only for the money.
SimpleSurvival May 20th 2008 8:39AM
I pull 22 dailies usually, all the SSO, cooking, fishing, and skettis on a slow day.
On other days, I end up runnin an instance or four...
I'm a fan of the dailies. They are pretty easy, and definitely a good source of gold. My current main is 2 weeks into 70, so theres plenty of need for rep and golds. I pulled my flying mount 3 days after dinging which was nice. Plus, with the dailies, I still haven't finished all of the regular quests. I'm still workin my way thru Netherstorm and besides atal armaments, i haven't stepped foot into shadowmoon.
The only downside I'm seeing from the dailies is more gold in the economy and less time for the farmers to meet the demand, so many of the previously heavily farmed commods are going up in price. (Think ore->green gems). But, theres always money to be made. Plus, it seems more and more that you don't actually need as much gold as before with so many opportunities to gear up. Either that or I'm just not noticing the cost increase due to more opportunities for gaining gold. My last 70 made 250g on a good day. I can pull 300-400 without effort now days...
BillDoor May 20th 2008 8:41AM
The only thing that I reliably do every day is the Fishing daily, because I don't yet have all of the rewards from it. I'm done with SSO rep, so I only ever do the dailies if I'm already there and helping a friend or something.
Mostly I just make sure my raid-bag is full of consumables and ready to go.
JaneLame May 20th 2008 8:51AM
You're absolutely right, it is an annoying chore. But you gotta get yourself an epic flyer. It saves TONS of time and much less annoying than the 60% flyer. If you fish, herb or mine, it also allows better tracing of fish, minerals and plants, so it may become a nice source of income. It takes money to make money, they say.
I say, do the dailies till you can afford the flyer, than quit them.
Def Wolf May 20th 2008 8:47AM
I do 19-20 dailies everyday. The one that I may not do is the Skettis prisoner one; depending on how many are in the area vying for that one. I started doing the dailies about a week after the Isle opened up; have gotten my epic flyer along with making a few loans to family and friends. It feels good to be able to help out more.
