Breakfast Topic: Choose a race for your Death Knight
I've been more ore less avoiding the Wrath of the Lich King news. Not because I'm afraid of spoilers, but because Blizzard has this annoying habit of teasing us and then taking things away. Take the bleed effect on Flametongue Weapon for example. Nothing is final until it goes live and even then it will most likely be tweaked.
Although there are still many details to be hashed out, Blizzard will hold true to their promise of the Death Knight Class. We've heard all kinds of news about what this class can do, again, this is subject to change. I sincerely hope that the developers do not change their minds that any race can roll a Death Knight.
If I do roll one, I will most likely roll an Undead. Maybe it's cliche, but its only fitting. On

Belf female or Gnome female most likely. Maybe an Orc or Tauren male.
Jordrah May 23rd 2008 9:51AM
im with you on the female belf, i havent leveled a horde toon yet because i really dont feel like learning all the new quests on the horde side yet but i will use the DK as my way to skip all the crap leveling quests and get to outlands faster.
on the ally side... tbh, none of the ally races fit into the DK 'feel' for me except for the humans... and since humans look idiotic i'll just stick to horde on the DK
Impzor May 23rd 2008 8:06AM
Orc :D
Jesse May 23rd 2008 8:06AM
Gnome. I have no doubt that escape artist will continue to be the most useful pvp racial on alliance side.
Jant May 23rd 2008 8:08AM
Gnome DK! There's just something about these little creatures that screams death and destruction...
Goodie May 23rd 2008 6:13PM
Gnome all the way, I've always loved the idea of a lil' female gnome with a hunge pink hairdoo tanking, and isn't it fitting that the most magically inclined race in the game (other than belf) is an anti-magic tank?

Draenei here, I am currently leveling a Draenei Warrior to 55 and will then turn into a Death Knight.
SaintStryfe May 23rd 2008 8:15AM
Just so it's clear, Tyy, you don't "Turn" a character. If you have a level 55 character on a realm, you can add one DK, assuming you have an open character spot (that is, you don't have 9). The Existing level 55 character is not "Consumed" in the process.

I'm debating between UD or BE, UD being my fav race cuz of looks and racials but I can not stand their stance with 2h weapons, I don't like the BE animations while dual wielding either... so it will depend on which type of weapons will be more efficient pvp wise for me =)
Nick S May 23rd 2008 4:12PM
i know what you mean! the undead 2H animations don't look like you're hitting anything!

Puntable Death Knight
'nuff said
SaintStryfe May 23rd 2008 8:14AM
I am not planning on one, but if I do, I think I'll hafta go Human for the rep bonus, plus lore. I might try going Horde with mine since I play primarily on PVE, so if I do, I think I'll try a Tauren and just get him PVPing.
Rodrígo May 23rd 2008 8:14AM
Draenei female ftw....
let alone the voice
Tom L May 23rd 2008 12:08PM
oh that voice.... I'm levelling a draenei shammie on a different server for this expressed purpose.
Of my beloved Hordies where all my existing 70's are, it's definitely Trollbabe Death Knight FTW. Chicks in plate mail, no matter how green, is just how it should be.
Ta,

undead or belf male at horde side and at alli side only human is good for me .)
andreas. May 23rd 2008 11:50PM
I was going to go with UD at first as it is my favourite race, though I already have 2 UD 70s so I think I'm gonna mix it up and either roll a troll or tauren.
AndiM May 23rd 2008 8:21AM
Probably I won't play any until far into the expansion, I'd say. But if I create one I'll go for Undead, I guess. Never played Horde so far and somehow the UD seem to be a fitting choice.

This, like all things, may change, but what Blizzard has says is that while you need only one 55 character on a realm to create a DK on that realm, the DK MUST be the same faction as that 55 toon. People planning on rolling opposite faction need to keep that in mind. If you've not leveled at least one character in that faction to 55, no DK for you.
Melf May 23rd 2008 1:25PM
Actually, the faction thing only applies for PVP server Death Knights, from what I'm reading. You don't have a character on a server to be able to have a DK on that server either. If you're PVE server you can create a DK for either faction.
Angelus May 23rd 2008 3:29PM
I'm seeing what Melf said, too.
