New tier gear video
Fresh from the alpha leaks that have been coming our way is a new video posted on Vimeo that shows new Wrath of the Lich King gear for Hunters, Mages, Priests, Rogues, and Warlocks. We don't know what tier level (ie: 7.5, 8, 9) this gear is for, but we do know that it fits the overall model of previous tier gear. When you watch the video you'll notice that not everything is done yet. Obviously, this is because the game is still in alpha. And remember that these models could be completely thrown out and replaced with something different. My personal favorite is the rogue gear.
Give it a watch and get yourself some of these juicy alpha leaks!

Atrocita May 25th 2008 9:16PM
I hope you're kidding, that lock set looks TERRIBLE. Not excited!
Dominace May 25th 2008 10:45PM
I jump happily every time I get a piece of helm leather gear that can cover up my Orcs ugly mug, at least you warlocks get something that just blanks out the face..but all I get is another hideous face to cover up my already hideous face?

The lock set looks like it should be for a hunter

the rogue set is more like a joke - it looks very good, but not for a fantasy game, it has a cyborg like feeling which is out of place. And I think the rogue class in terms of RP and lore is more complex than a simple brutish killer depicted with this set.
The hunter set looks like a warrior's (the helm is of a warrior) and the lock looks like having a bucket over his head from behind, yet it's not a helm, just some sort of a shield. The mage armor is disappointing, I thought it was a paladin, because it doesn't look like cloth at all. I think the priest set is best, rogue 2nd from what I've seen. The rogue helm is LOL material though.

I reckon the warlock set looks more like druid gear, I mean; feathers and beak?
The rogue gear is sorta fitting I guess, with the mask that looks sorta like a generic face, if we assume its made to look more "lifelike" anyways. Still a bit to cyborgie as mentioned above though. Especially since they are going back to more fantasy looks, supposedly.
I'm hoping those are place holders, at least partially. The rogue set looks like it could have come from starcraft.

Ah. I can't wait to get my Tier 7 Shoulderpads of the Green Boxes. It will be uber.
Lunati May 25th 2008 10:44PM
The hunter shoulder effects weren't finished, so they showed up screwy. You can see similar effects in the other videos, either flat grey or bright flat green textures for unfinished things, it's Blizzard's way of going "Hey, do this before it goes out!" So it isn't skipped over.

Right below the video:
4. I apologize for the missing particle textures on Hunter helm & shoulders.
The green boxes are particle effect placeholders. The live items will have actual effects.
Not sure if you were just joking or serious, but there ya go.

Way too simple for a raiding Tier set.
Looks like a dungeon set to me.
Reepa May 25th 2008 8:19PM
I would take a guess at that being tier 8, since t7 is extremely likely to be reused t3 models (with possible colour changes, knowing blizz).
Argent May 25th 2008 8:31PM
pretty certain that isn't tier gear, but just a set that has a matched appearance.
(and no, i won't elaborate on that.)
Jack Spicer May 25th 2008 8:34PM
I don't think Blizzard would spend time adding particle effects and animation to non-tier armor sets. It just wouldn't make much sense (unless they were recycling old armor graphics, which it doesn't appear that they are doing).
I kinda hate the video maker for shooting all of these video at night, and not ever doing a close up of the priest helm from the front.
PeeWee May 25th 2008 9:43PM
Hopefully they'll fire their set designers and re-do the whole thing before release, so it won't matter. :P
Verses May 25th 2008 8:42PM
Hahaha, warlock bucketheads ! :P
Ametrine May 25th 2008 8:43PM
Wow, can't wait to see all these lined up in Orgrimmar doing nothing.
Because that's all Tier gear is truly good for - to give bored endgamers ego-buffs by flaunting themselves in public areas.

What happened to not reporting on anything that's been leaked for the beta? Tons of bloggers are trying to prove they can maintain a high level of journalistic credibility, and you guys seem to change your mind regarding your policy on this daily. Your readers aren't stupid, please stop acting like they are.
Tomah May 25th 2008 9:44PM
Uh, they've been reporting on it, and will continue reporting on it, but what they have NOT and will NOT be doing is hosting the information directly. That's the thing that will get them in trouble with Blizzard.
Discussing and linking to other people doing it is perfectly okay.
TotalBiscuit May 26th 2008 1:26AM
You are so wrong in that regard. No, it's not ok at all, and you have no idea the amount of shit they're in over it.
Don't say I didn't warn them.
Silverslide May 26th 2008 5:16AM
Oh noes Blizzard will stop giving them exclusive interviews and content (probably choosing 1up, Gamespot etc in the future over them!!).
They'll be forced to just collect together information from disparate sources, mix in editorial columns and player feedback presented in one fairly easy to follow blog.
Seriously what's Blizz gonna do ignore them harder? Say well... we were gonna give you stuff honest - but now we definitely won't? How about you leave the amateur dramatics to the forums. They've chosen their line of plausible denialbility and it's probably a better journalistic choice than yours in the long run.
