Arena Junkies suffers virus attack
Arena Junkies is one of the most reputable online sources for. . .arena junkies. Its posters are numbered predominately among the 2000+ Arena Rated teams, and thus the site serves as a key resource for arena veterans and up-and-comers alike. Arena Junkies hosts dozens of forums, macros, strategies, and example Arena-centric Talent builds. Arena Junkies is also an official part of the Blizzard Fan Site Program. Oh, and they've got their own T-Shirts.Which is why it can be so troubling to see they've been attacked by one of Vaneras's malicious "eVillains." The eVillain posted a "malicious applet" in their Interface forums, planting a virus which apparently spread to the hosting server itself. Naxos warns forum-goers that if any Junkie clicked on the link responsible for the attack, he or she should be careful that their system isn't under any danger. With the rising number of keyloggers and account theft, that kind of precaution is starting to get common for even the most casual WoW player.
Naxos definitely seems to have a handle on the problem, though. Arena Junkies reverted to its last-saved backup, from very early that morning, and now Arena Junkies is back to running smoothly. According to Naxos, the virus itself was a variation of the i-worm/stration virus. Links to the virus have, understandably, been removed.
It's unclear whether this attack was an attack of opportunity, or if someone has it out for the Arena Junkies. As Bio puts it: "He prob sucks at the arena."

Why do people always jump to the stupid conclusion that jerkwads on the internet have something against what they are messing up?
Its much more likely that somebody found an oh so exploitable something out there, then took advantage of it
Need I remind you of John Gabriel's Greater Internet Fuckwad Theory...
This level of delusional elitism from arena players makes it that much more entertaining to the person committing the wrong.
What would you have thought about the person if you found out they didn't even play warcraft?
silly people and their silly delusions of grandeur

I'm pretty sure that was a tongue-in-cheek type of comment...

I don't know some times...
There is quite a bit of egotism when it comes to the "hardcore", and it was pretty believable that many people affected by the virus would actually believe that it was a disgruntled arena player trying to grief them because they get pwn'd
True that such thinking is delusion... and your average human being won't really see it that way... but we're not talking bout normal people here

Again, use Firefox and download the add-ons Adblock Plus and NoScript. If you have any questions about it, just ask, the community around is great.
Safe browsing ftw!

Agreed. Also I use Safari which is equally nice.

a bit off topic, but i would have never heard of this site were it not for this article, which leads me to a request of wow insider. i would love to see a column on web resources for wow players. there is some really great information out there and i would have to say i have stumbled across much of it via a link the the meat of an article here on the insider. a column specifically about the sites out there would be a great asset to all players!

Same here, this article is the first I've heard of what sounds like a great website. Would love to see a WoW Insider article about other web resources.
Has anyone ever heard of http://be.imba.hu/? I came across it on the official Wow forums and recommended it to all my fellow guildies. Articles like this make a little wary going to and recommending new wow related websites. Did I just put my entire guild at risk of being keylogged? Anyone know if there's a large Hungarian gold farming market?

I noticed the Login screen had a big warning about the Adobe flaw this morning urging everyone to update your flash player.
Just a warning to everyone, I noticed some peoeple on the O-forums saying they were having a hard time getting the upgrade to take. I'm noticing that too. It doesn't want to give me the 124 update and keeps giving me the 115 update. Make sure you check your version.
Also, if you do add No-Script to your browsing arsenal (and I recommend you do) if you allow a trused domain, be sure you don't allow the other domains on that page that may be serving ads.

may I add to that... "otherwise you will be plagued."
