No dude, saying frost is just *another* dps tree is like saying Subtlety is just another rogue dps tree. They aren't you're wrong.
All pure dps classes have 3 kinds of trees. Their raid tree (destro for locks, combat for rogues, BM for hunters and Fire for mages). Their 'secondary' tree (Afflic for locks, Assassination for rogues, Arcane for Mages and Survival for hunters) and their pvp tree (Sub for rogues, frost for mages, demo for Locks and Marks for Hunters).
Your raid tree is all about high sustained dps. Your secondary tree is *usually* a point dump but has a couple talents buried in the lower tier talents to make it raid viable (not optimal) if you wish to spec it. Your pvp tree will be packed full of survival talents/mitigation talents/CC talents at the expense of pure damage.
*Note: locks are a possibly exception since they're dominant pvp spec is a hybrid between two trees, but I wouldn't surprised if that changes in the future.
